Interview with .............................................

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: There's this band i worked with, "L'Effondras". I recorded and mixed their 1st album, they were so great that i created my own record label to produce their 2nd album. We recorded it live and outdoor on a national park in the middle of nowhere here in France, with the amps and the drums blasting the forest around, so much technical difficulties we managed to turn into character and vibe! At some point you can ear the rain falling. Loved this recording.

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: Couldn't care less.

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: 100% commitment.

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: Remembering reading liner notes on CDs when i was a kid, wondering who was these guys. Then reading my own name on albums i made.

  9. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  10. A: - Is it possible to [ ... ] ? - sure.

  11. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  12. A: thinking it's about technical things.

  13. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  14. A: i'm not asking anything, i'm listening to what they have to say.

  15. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  16. A: Feel free to get in touch, i'll reply :)

  17. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  18. A: My iLok key and a Swiss army knife cause there'll be a real need for it out there.

  19. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  20. A: I always played music (piano, guitar, drums, ...), music is the key to everything i've ever done. I left college early to become a guitar maker, which led me later to acoustics and sound. Then years and years of touring with bands, mixing FOH, and working in the studio while not on the road. Damn, 20 years resumed into 3 sentences ...

  21. Q: How would you describe your style?

  22. A: wow, hard one ... Powerful ? Dynamic ? You tell me.

  23. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  24. A: Any passionate artist with a great work ethic will do.

  25. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  26. A: Trust yourself, trust your ears, there's no right or wrong.

  27. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  28. A: I've been dedicated to music that's played and performed with real instruments and sweat for years now, Anyone using a drumkit played in a room, bass & guitars played with emotion, meaningful vocals, i'm your guy.

  29. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  30. A: Getting bored while listening to a song, so i know when it needs a push for excitement.

  31. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  32. A: What i like to get at the end of the day is an easy to read song. With clear transitions, constant forward motion and a clear focus to keep you hooked from the first to the very last note of the song. I love emotion rises, tension, release and brickwall choruses hitting like a shovel in your face.

  33. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  34. A: A ProTools rig, and a damn good chair ! that's all I need :)

  35. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  36. A: Adding those last percents that'll help their songs to proudly stand out.
