Credits include Green Day, Keith Urban and more. I am looking to work with clients who need an ace mixing and mastering engineer. I only take on clients looking for the very best work since I have such little time for new clients. I have swift turnarounds and can cover virtually any genre. My time working for Chris Lord-Alge and Ghostwriter Music has trained me to be very quick and efficient.
Having cut my teeth in Nashville's Blackbird Studio, where I was mentored by some of the absolute mixing greats such as Vance Powell, Dave Pensado, Andrew Scheps, and Jacquire King, I was also able to work with amazing artists such as Steven Tyler, Keith Urban, Martina McBride, Tim McGraw, Chris Stapleton, and Yelawolf, I decided to move out to Los Angeles to work as Chris Lord-Alge's engineer.
There, I worked on sessions for numerous major artists, including Green Day (Revolution Radio album) Blink 182 (California Album), Carrie Underwood (Smoke Break), Steven Tyler (RED WHITE & YOU), Bon Jovi (This House Is Not For Sale Album), MIYAVI (Fire Bird Album), Muse (Mercy, Aftermath), Keith Urban (Blue Ain't Your Color, Boy Gets A Truck, Worry Bout Nothin), Avril Lavigne (Fly), Krewella (Ammunition Album), Dillon Francis (Money Sucks, Friends Rule Album), The Score (On and On), The Struts (Everybody Wants Album) All Time Low (Future Hearts Album), Hank Williams (It's About Time), Billy Talent (Afraid of Heights album), and many more.
Now, I am a freelance mixing and mastering engineer who mixes over 1000 tracks a year, ranging from record label artists, indie musicians to trailer music and production library music. I also mix TV and Film scores as well.
I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Austin is an incredible person to work with! He's extremely nice, has a very quick turnaround and he's super skilled with his mixing and mastering. He turned a mediocre demo into an amazing sounding track! I highly recommend him for any of your mixing/mastering needs!

I had a great time working on Innocent Goodbye. The tracks were well-prepared and it was a pleasure to mix. Austin was my main contact and was easy and direct to work with on what was a fairly complex project. Notes with Austin and Teresa were productive and efficient. As an added bonus, it turned out every bit as fine in the end as I'd hoped it would when I first saw the rough cut. A great experience all around!
I've had a very pleasant experience with Austin working to mix my track for placement opportunities. I will recommend his services for anyone interested.
Austin is a fountain of knowledge! I loved working with him on a mix session and am looking forward to doing another one ASAP.
Austin is a great mix engineer and great to work with. He is fast and reliable and his mixes are killer. I highly recommend Austin.
I started working with Austin in late 2020, after hundreds of TV episodes and promos aired using cues I'd written & mixed in my home studio. I was ready to "level up" my mixing game. I felt like I'd heard all of the advice out there.... But I wasn't always sure which techniques to apply — and which to avoid. Austin's advice not only cleared up my confusion but his mixing shows me how my music can sound it's best.
Amazing producer/mixer. Have worked with him on multiple albums and he has been an amazing asset to each of those projects! Highly recommended!
Whilst I didn't contact Austin through Soundbetter I can still provide an honest review. Austin has mixed a few tracks of mine on a horror trailer release and he really brought out the best in them. They are far more punchy, impactful and present with a much better depth of field than before. I have also had the pleasure of doing a 3 hour lesson with him and I learnt a LOT - obviously it doesn't make me a great mix engineer - that takes years - but I definitely took away several go to tips and processes that have improved my own mixing skills.
He is also a lovely guy too by the way!
Incredibly talented producer. Thoroughly knowledgeable and thoughtful about all aspects involved with mixing and producing. I’m very much looking forward to the next time I need him. Would highly recommend Austin, without question.
Austin is probably one of THE greatest producers I've ever had the pleasure of working with. He definitely knows what he's doing when it comes to mixing/mastering, and it was evident as soon as I heard some of my finalized tracks that we had worked on at Ghostwriter Music.
The man is simply the best. I've currently never had someone do a better job of mastering my tracks.
If you're looking to learn the "ins and outs" of mixing/mastering, he's your guy!
I've worked on three different albums with Austin, and the process has been incredible. He's attentive to my wishes as a producer and sensitive to my musical vision, gives helpful constructive feedback, and has a great ear for the musical detail within a mix. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing mix and mastering help. He's a friendly, easy-going guy who's about as easy to work with as you could ever want, and the results of his work have been even better than I've hoped for. It's been a pleasure thus far and I will definitely work with him again in the future, no question.
Austin is an absolute joy to work with! His amazing production ideas and expertise helped take my album to the next level, and his mastering skills are top notch. Can’t wait to work with him on another project soon!
I had an amazing experience working with Austin! The mix he delivered was more than what I would wish for. He was very quick in delivering the track. I would blindly trust him with any of my tracks. He simply makes anything sound better 😉
If you are looking for someone to bring your track that extra mile, look no further. Austin is not only wonderful to work with, he also does wonderful things with your music. He is trusted by the biggest names in the trailer world, and everyone knows that world is extremely competitive. Highly recommended.
Austin recently mixed and mastered a folk/celtic acoustic instruments based album for me. It was recorded in my humble home studio and what I got back sounded like a group of musicians in a great sounding room. He really brought out the elements of individual instruments and how they were working together. I really was blown away by his finished mixes and master . He added so much excitement, depth and space to the tracks while maintaining the important dynamic range. 100% recommend him and looking forward to working on future projects with him.
Austin is top notch. He has solid experience, he is passionate about the projects he takes on, he is super professional, and best of all; he is one of the good guys, very friendly and accommodating! If you need to take your tracks or film scores to the next level, Austin is your man. Highly recommended!!
I only had a few opportunities to work with Austin, but I'm hoping there will be a lot more. Very professional guy and awesome sounding mixes, what more do you need?! I also got a mixing class from him which totally blew my mind and changed my perception on mixing tremendously. 10/10 would definitely recommend
Austin is an incredibly professional and talented producer who has helped me to create one of my best instrumental music albums I've ever done! Great communication, friendly vibe, and a top-notch level of work! Thank you so much!
I met Austin in late 2020 where he mixed and mastered one of my recent trailer tracks live as part of a tutoring session. Not only his approach was super-efficient and straight forward, it was also astonishing to see his understanding of how to treat each element of my track to make each of them really shine in the role they play. He's such a kind and professional guy, it was a real pleasure for me to see him do his magic!
Needless to say that I would definitely re-book his services if ever needed for a big project!
With Austin's stellar record and experience, you can be assured that your song will definitely be taken to a whole new level. Blessed to have had the chance to watch him work on a couple of my songs live, Austin is NOT over-selling his speed and quality in mixing and mastering.
A fast turnaround does not traditionally translate to a good final product but due to his vast experience, turning a mix great is an instinct rather than skill. Oh, and a great person too. ;)
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! (for the genres stated)
I worked closely with Austin on my album of indie-singer/songwriter tracks for Ghostwriter Music. He had great production advice and did a masterful job mixing and mastering the final product. As nice a guy as you'll find and easy-peasy to work with!
I had the privilege of having Austin mix and master one of my albums this past year. He is one of those few people with "magic ears" who can hear exactly what a track needs to be the best version of itself. I'd trust him with any project that demands excellence.
I'm a media composer and definitely not a mix engineer so I took two one-to-one classes with Austin and even if I can't do a fraction of what he does, he taught me so much! My mixes now sound much better and it gives me a measurable edge when competing with other composers for a job. I could get a glimpse into his workflow and technique, and it was nothing short of amazing. Austin would definitely be my go-to engineer for all my high profile jobs as he just "gets" what mixing is all about.
I've had the joy of working with Austin both in his private mix lessons as well as production albums he's produced and mixed. His mixing philosophy and workflow are incredibly intuitive and efficient. One thing I really appreciate about him is that as an artist himself he not only sees the frequencies, but also considers the intent and aesthetic, helping elevate a song's focus into that 'platinum hit' place you imagined in your head. No doubt from his love of the craft and the hundreds of tracks he's graced his talents on!
Working with Austin was hands down one of the best studio experiences of my life. I worked with Austin on a track for Lionsgate, which placed in a film shortly after. Austin is incredible at his job, and he is extremely patient and kind while doing work quickly and efficiently. 10/10 recommend working with him on your future projects.
My album profit has reached over six figures thanks to Austin's mixing and mastering. He knows exactly what movie editors/ producers want and gives very concise notes on things where it needs improvement. On a side note, he is a very down to earth guy and willing to take you to the next level.
I have had the absolute pleasure of working with Austin on a number of individual tracks but most recently he produced, mixed, and mastered my bands full length album. It was clear from the first track we worked on, that Austin cares as much about your music as you do when taking on a project. This means he puts all he has into your tracks. He has a keen ear for mixing and producing. I was amazed by how massive our tracks sounded after Austin worked his magic. I honestly look forward to creating more with him in the future. I couldn't recomend him any higher.
Austin is highly regarded in our circles. When you're a busy, working professional, you learn who is good, and that's just an oversimplified way of saying "kick-ass good, shake-your-head, damn, dude is good" kinda good. Austin is not only an absolute pro, but is fun to work with. You will be very happy at what Austin can do with his Dark Magic Ninja Wizard stuff. Oh good, now he's going to be too busy to hire.
I couldn't have asked for a better mixing and mastering engineer than Austin. He has been invaluable to all or our industry releases and is a professional on all levels. If you're looking for a quality mixing and mastering engineer look no further.
Austin has mixed and mastered several albums of mine, and he always has a way of making my tracks sound loud and punchy, but still balanced and dynamic. He was even kind enough to give me some tips on what I could have done better the first time!
I had a 3-hour mixing & mastering lesson with Austin, working on a trailer music track of mine over zoom. Observing Austin's quick and professional approach to the work was enlightening and gave me a better perspective on mixing and mastering my own tracks. I learned a bunch of new tools and tricks, that really helped take my music to the next level, resulting in new opportunities for me. Max Stars :)
Austin has helped mix and master a handful of different songs and albums for me. His work is absolutely incredible, and he is so easy to work with. Not only are his mixes fantastic, but he is one of the most efficient engineers I've worked with as well - his turnarounds are very quick, with no compromise on quality. Austin is the real deal, and the work he's done shows for that. I can't recommend him enough (I'd give him 6 stars if I was able to)!
I've worked with a lot of engineers over the years, and they are certainly not all created equal. Austin has mixed and mastered several albums I've written over the past couple years, ranging from dark orchestral hybrid trailers to light, fun percussion instrumentals for advertising. His work is TOP NOTCH, every time. I like to think my mixes are pretty good, but when I compare my mix to what Austin comes up with, I realize just how much his presence is needed! Not only is his work at the top of the game, he is also an extremely nice, professional person to work with.
Helped me out on a few Albums and Projects and not only provides excellent mixing and mastering service but also guidance and advice/feedback. Would definitely recommend for anyone who needs a great mix/master or training help with quick turnarounds!
Interview with Seltzer Sounds
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I work on nearly 50 tracks a month, if not more. I work in every single genre you can imagine given that I have clients I work for around the world.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I much prefer digital. After working in several studios with only analog gear, I can honestly tell you that you will never hear the difference in the way I mix than if someone were to mix on a console with outboard gear. After working for CLA, I can model his same process with digital gear and get the same result. Plugins are SO sophisticated at this point.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: You will receive a better mix than you ever thought possible in a much quicker turnaround time than most are used to. I really strive to make each track better sounding than the artist or producer imaged was possible. By thickening up tracks and really balancing them out, tracks can take on a bit of a new life that surprises artists. I love that about this job.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Mixing is the best job in the world for me. I get to shape the final sound of tracks that span all sorts of genres. It gives me a look under the hood as well, which I find fascinating. No two tracks are ever the same, which makes my job interesting.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: They ask me how I would like stems prepared. I want stems in 24/48 WAV or AIF. I would like you to send me unmastered stems that do not have any "mixing" plugins on the tracks, meaning, if you are using reverb, delay, or EQ for mixing purposes, please leave those off. If you are, however, using those effects and EQ for "sound and vibe" purposes, leave them! You can also leave anything on your master bus giving your track its vibe; I just ask that you take off any limiters and make sure nothing is clipping.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: The biggest misconception is that mixing should be something that everyone is great at, including artists. Mixing uses a whole different piece of your brain than writing and producing. You must develop a whole new set of skills and processes to be great at mixing and mastering, which will take precious time away from your writing and producing time. Let someone who has spent their life honing in on the skill of mixing do the job for you. You will absolutely see how much of a difference it makes.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I ask that you are timely with your responses. I work on a very large amount of mixes a week and I want to provide you with quick turnaround times. I also ask that you try your best not to fall in love with your rough mix. Psychologically, we as humans fall in love with what we are used to, which makes it hard to hear something new that could be much, much better. I am here to breathe new life and greatness into your track. Let me help you!
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I would strongly suggest you ask your mix engineer/mastering engineer for examples of work that are in your genre. I can't tell you how many people I have heard unhappy stories from after they used a mix engineer to work on a genre they aren't an expert at. IT MATTERS.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My Genelec speakers, computer with iLok, Apollo x6, a coffee machine with a mug, and Rage Against The Machine's self-titled album.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I want to work with any very serious artists about the quality of their music and try to push the boundaries of their creativity.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been a professional in the world of audio for over 10 years. I started in Dallas as a bedroom engineer, taking on as many local bands as possible to track, mix, and master. I moved to Nashville and began a mentorship program at Blackbird Studio. From Nashville, I moved to Los Angeles, where I worked as Chris Lord-Alge's engineer, working with some of the world's biggest artists daily. When I had learned enough skills to start my own mixing business, I began working for Ghostwriter Music, where I had mixed over 1000 tracks in a year and a half. These tracks can be heard in the largest film trailers around the world.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style of mixing and mastering can be summed up by the word "massive." I get the most out of each track of audio to create a wall of sound that is very loud, packs a punch, but has incredible clarity.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am constantly inspired by artists creating music with sounds I've never heard before. The genre "Intelligent Dance Music" is one of my favorites right now because it fuses unique sounds with film score-esque magnitude.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Generally, the faster the mix session, the better. It is more inspired by the way you hear a track for the first time. Once you work on a track for a long time, you lose sight of where you wanted to end up.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Rock, Pop, Trailer, Sync Music, EDM, Hip Hop, Rap, and vocal tracks.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Mixing and Mastering.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Over 10 years of experience, the knowledge I gained from working as Chris Lord-Alge's engineer, and as an engineer from Blackbird Studio.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Once I receive stems for a track, I will set a day to work on your track. I can complete a mix and revision in a single day generally. I work fast, but a lot of clients book me up quickly. Please make sure and reach out early.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: While I have a bunch of outboard gear, I like to work in the box entirely. I can get the exact sound clients are looking for in the box, and I have a perfect recall for settings this way, too, if revisions are needed.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I specialize in mixing and mastering. I do not offer any other services because these are the services I do best.
