2 ReviewsEndorse LINNEY
Linney is a true music lover. She is very keen to do her best no matter what the project is about. I am glad that I found her through Soundbetter and recommend her by giving her a 5 STAR!!!!
I've had the privilege of working with Linney on a number of project over the last year and a half, including my latest crossover dance/pop single. Her ability to perfectly capture the vibe of a record and formulate appropriate lyrics is unreal, especially considering how quickly she's able to turn projects around.
I can't express how highly I think of Linney, and can't wait to the next opportunity to work with her.
Interview with LINNEY
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Give me as much information and detail as you can and I'll try my best to implement it.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My guitar, my keyboard, computer, pre-amp, microphone.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I'm one of those weirdos who knew they wanted to do this when they were 5 years old. So I've been singing and writing music since I was kid. That path has changed along the way. I've released a country-pop record under my full name, Caitlin Linney, released multiple indie-pop songs and also sing on dance music. I just love it all.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: honest vocals, indie pop, with an organic flair.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I love indie pop, dance, folk, acoustic music. Anything that makes me feel something.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I always hear melodies first, unless I have a really sick lyric I start with. So I'll work the melody out and allow the lyrics to come from that. It feels very organic that way.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I think that having the ability to turn a tragedy into something beautiful is quite the superhero. And I try my best to harness that. Life throws us experiences and as artists we have this ability to transform it into something useful. I think that's pretty darn close to magic. I try my best to be honest and sincere with everything I write.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It all starts with the song and the idea. I'm open to concept ideas and I'll spend some time with the track, and write the topline. I'll usually send over a vocal demo to see if you like the direction and once approved, I'll record the lead, dbls, harmonies, ad libs and send over with wet & dry options.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have access to an isolated vocal booth, various condenser and dynamic microphones (I switch out depending on project). As for hardware, I have an Apollo interface and a BURL vocal pre-amp and most often use the UAD plugins for vocal processing. When we deliver vocals, they'll be tuned, EQed & compressed to your liking.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most often I write and record vocals for dance features for my clients. Additionally, I have my own artist project, Linney, where I release indie pop songs.
