I am a freelance engineer in Los Angeles who loves music.
I am a musician at heart so I understand what it's like to be on the other side of the spectrum. I am very versatile in terms of genre and willing to work hard. I have had over 7 years of experience and am still extremely open into learning new things. My influences are but not limited too Andrew Scheps, Andy Wallace, Rich Costey. I am confident about my mixes but I am also realistic in what I can offer. (I am not Chris Lord-Alge)***Please check my website for more samples*******

Interview with Kevin Chavez Audio
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: As an Engineer, I first organize the sessions. Tracks, arrangements, any editing needed. All gets done before I start mixing. Afterwards I do a 10 minute quick mix and listen to the song before I begin the "Real Mix"
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My Studio set-up consist of Presonus Quantum with 2 DP88's (24 Input system), Pro Tools and Studio One. Equator D8's and Yamaha HS8 monitors. I have a extensive mic locker ranging from a Warm Audio WA-87 to a Audio Technica ATM 450.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Rich Costey because his approach to recording Muse - Absolution was one of my biggest inpsirations to be in this career. Andrew Scheps, Chris Lord-Alge, and Andy Wallace because they all mixed the albums I grew up listening to. Al Schmitt because to use microphones are your main source of EQ is just beyond inspiring.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I mostly work with live bands mixing and tracking. By Live band I am not talking about "Live" recordings I am more talking about Studio work that involves a microphone and the instrument itself. (I.E: Real Drums vs. Sampled Drums)
