I have worked on 700+ tracks so have plenty of experience and versatility in the studio, I specialise in creating custom guitar parts for tracks across all genres around the world, to tight deadlines. From subtle and simple to loud and technical, I can give your track life and energy with creative guitar parts. I'd say my specialist genres are pop, rock, country and jazz, but open to try anything.

The majority of my day is spent in my home studio recording parts for clients or recording and practicing . By working on a wide range of different music each week I find I’m often pushing my creativity, learning new tricks and refining my approach. I've played live 3 or 4 times a week for the last 12 years.

I’m always friendly and easy to work with, I love to communicate back and forth to better understand precisely what it is the client wants, and I like to think that the quality of both the playing and recording is superb.

I use top end instruments and gear - Fender guitars and amps, Gibson, Taylor, Line 6 and some great recording equipment (Logicpro, Focusrite preamps and interface), to provide you with a premium, high quality online session guitarist service at affordable rates.

I am so happy with Ry Jones contribution to my song! I asked for guitar parts for a pop song and what he came up with was perfect match for it. He knew exactly what the song needed and really lifted it many levels up. Professional, great quality and service. Strongly recommended :)

Ry is amazing! He worked with my producer Aubrey Whitfield on several of my tracks now. With each song bringing new skills, flavours and styles to the music. His versatility is amazing and he will deliver exactly what you want on your project. In fact he came up with licks and riffs better than I had imagined for my music. He's a pleasure to work with, you won't be disappointed! I can't wait to see what he comes up with next!

I was first introduced to the incredible guitar talent of Ry Jones when some truly outstanding guitar started turning up the tracks I was getting back from my producer Aubrey Whitfield. No matter what the genre - rock, pop, Beatles, country - Ry instinctively knows exactly the right sound to use and has the talent & technique to make the absolute most of it. From laid back perfectly timed ballad chords to face melting guitar solos & everything in between - Ry who can do it all, whilst still retaining the rhythm, flow and character of your tracks. I can not recommend him highly enough.

We had Ry do some amazing guitar and double bass work on our latest song "HIS", a bluesy Pink Panther sound. Our producer Aubrey Whitfield works only with the best people and for her to choose him for her songs means we trusted him 100%. He got the emotion and feeling of the instruments right. They go perfectly with the vocals and the rest of the production. Cant wait to use him again!!!

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Aubrey Whitfield. Super producer and amazing person. I wouldn't be where I am today without her.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital. We live in a digital age and it's so much easier and quicker.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: To always match their vision 100% the way they want it.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I get to live my passion 24/7 and share my ideas with like-minded people around the world.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Is this possible? Yes of course!

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: People assume I mindlessly strum my guitar all day to impress my buddies.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I ensure we share the same vision to achieve accuracy.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Go for experience and attention to detail instead of speedy turnarounds. Show me precision not speed.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Electric guitar, helix, usb interface, iMac, keyboard.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I have been actively creating music since age 10, so 19 years now.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Simplistic, to the point and I try not to let technical ability outshine melody.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: Paul McCartney because he's Paul McCartney.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Less is more.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I work on a lot of pop and rock songs, but comfortable with virtually any genre.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: I have a good ear for chords and structures and can figure songs out after the first listen. I can find the key unprompted and this allows me to quickly start throwing ideas down.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I think I instinctively hear what a track needs and can fill in the gaps, keep it subtle but add flavour. Know when to shut up and when to unleash.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I like to have everything ready in front of me when I start a busy day of recording. I fire up my iMac with two screens, one for recording software and one to keep an eye on emails or DM’s. I'll open up one of my Logic templates consisting of usually a drum track, bass, piano and a couple of acoustic/electric tracks. It's good to have everything within reach all from my little sweet-spot position, all at my fingertips ready to go. I don't need to unplug or plug in any cables, I can grab my guitar, bass or keyboard and start playing instantly. Always ready for when a client requests a track.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: My main bits of kit are my focusrite usb interface, line 6 helix and midi keyboard. The two inputs on the focusrite are enough for me. I have an xlr in one input ready with a mic for acoustic/classical guitar work. For electric guitars I run a jack to jack cable to the helix which I now keep on my desk rather than at my feet. My keyboard is in front of me ready to capture ideas and to perform any necessary piano or keyboard parts. Thanks to the superb capabilities of the helix I rarely find myself recording with any guitar amps these days. I fire up the desktop helix app and can choose my patches on the screen instead of fiddling with the knobs. I don't use many different patches for general clean or crunchy rhythms, I have a handful of lead sounds that I might tweak depending on how well I'm playing that day or if the client requests something experimental.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I'm inspired by people who used the studio as an instrument like The Beatles, Beach Boys, Prince, Michael Jackson and Led Zeppelin. Really innovative, groundbreaking musicians. People who inspire me on the other side of the glass are Quincy Jones, George Martin, Brian Eno and Nile Rodgers for creating incredible hits by getting the best out of the artist.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I receive a lot of songs typically in the pop or rock genre. These type of songs usually require electric guitar rhythms and leads and acoustic guitar. I've branched out into other genre's like country, jazz, soul & motown and delivered guitar parts all to pleased clients.
