I've got the best sound and I deliver the best grooves. Give me a try and you will hire me for all your next projects.

30 years of experience, wide variety of styles, good sound and dozens of satisfied clients worldwide. Need more? Read on.

There are hundreds of bassists you can hire, so I will specify what's different with me. Playing vivid grooves is my talent. Bringing energy to a song is what I'm good at. If you want to pump it up and add more drive and excitement to your tracks - give me a chance and you'll be surprised.

I can basically work in every genre. Played pop, rock, world, fusion, funk, metal and ethnic music.

Gear: My bass is 40s annivessary (1995) Fender Jazz '62 reissue. It sounds unbelievable, and that is the reason I have only one bass. No fretless, upright, acoustic etc. - just one electric bass, but I still have to find one that sounds better. Of course, that means if you need a fretless or upright bass line - look elsewhere.

I prefer recording direct. If needed, a miked amplifier track can be added. I have an inventory of tube amps that I usually mic with AKG D-112. I needed, with all the pedals I can get almost every possible sound, from dubstep howls to Les Claypool's whacky slap. Just tell me what you want and you'll get it.

Techniques: fingerstyle, slap, pick, tapping. Styles: Pop, Rock, Funk, Fusion, World and the list goes on.

Send me an email through 'Contact' button above and I'll get back to you asap.

Not a good first impression! His first track was loaded with fret buzz from the first note. I asked him to redo and play higher up the neck for a different feel. He sent me a similar track without fret buzz. At that point I just moved on.

Enges is really a great bass player. Working with him was a formidable experience.
He understood what I wanted and created a part of bass that gave charm to the music of my project. A beautiful sound, a beautiful way to play.

Fantastic performance and tone, I particularly appreciated the fact that he took the time to thoroughly discuss direction and brought some nice options to the table to choose from. Delivered as promised and I will certainly use again on other projects in the future

Interview with engels

  1. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  2. A: Wife and all the kids. That makes 5 and I'd miss the dog.

  3. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  4. A: I'm trying to remember if there was at least one case that my work was rejected. Cannot. There were times I was asked for revisions, but in the end I was always hitting the aim and the client was satisfied. So I promise I can handle any job.

  5. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  6. A: I like it and - believe it or not - even if a song is dull and far from being perfect I will have a ball and enjoy playing it. There's no logical explanation to this fenomen I guess.

  7. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  8. A: I've been slapping those strings for more than 30 years. When I was a kid I listened to lost of classic rock acts - Beatles, Zeppelin, Floyd, Hendrix and such. Deep inside I'm still a rocker, but along the years I was always looking for fringe stuff and this brought me many unexpected skills like playing in odd time signatures that I learned from folk dances, using effects to create textures and not just grooves and many many more things you can do outside rock and pop.

  9. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  10. A: Nothing beats hearing a good musician playing.

  11. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  12. A: I've got a really long list of projects I played and I guess I've tried way too many styles to mention here. Everything from Folk to Djent to Ambient, Electroacoustic and Free Jazz. I love the challenge and when something unexpected comes my way - that's the best part of the job.

  13. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  14. A: My real world band, SHOOM, is an unusual blend of drums, bass and Duduk, which is an Armenian woodwind. You can check our latest release, Tried to Sing but couldn't, at http://www.shoom.band I played bass, guitar and recorded the LP.
