Post Productions

Producer, Manager

Post Productions on SoundBetter

My name is Colin Post, I have been playing the drums since I was a little kid and started diving into creating instrumentals and working with all DAW's to broaden my knowledge. Since then I've been studying the Music Industry as a whole, and am always excited to be working with people and music!

I have a vast variety of experience with different softwares including Pro Tools, Cubase, Logic and Ableton Live. Aside from music software, my knowledge in programs in the field of video editing, graphics & design, animation and 3D Design is quite experienced. I have been exploring working with different mediums my entire life, and I'm always expanding my tool belt inside these programs everyday.

In the Music Industry area, I am always working on my creative side. Trying out new sounds, plugins and instruments is something I consider an everyday hobby. On the other hand, I have recently entered into an Artist Management agreement with the artist Prufrock; in Ottawa, Canada. Since I have begun working on the management side of things, I have also started offering related services to other artists such as: press releases, creating EPK's, one-sheet's, creating draft contracts, assuring artist is registered with PRO's and is receiving the royalties or monies they are due.

I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Interview with Post Productions

  1. Q: How would you describe your style?

  2. A: I would describe my style as re-creating old school hip hop to be appreciated in today's popular form of music. My true love of music are rap compilations featuring multiple artists; these songs have so much variety to offer.

  3. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  4. A: I would enjoy working with any artists who are willing to create for the fun of creating or to create for a positive reason. I'm not the largest fan of overuse of profanity, or degrading innuendos. I really enjoy working with legitimate musicians who want to create that next big sound.

  5. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  6. A: It would be to truly just do what you feel is right, and create the music you want to. The more you put yourself into your music and get excited about what you're creating, the more everyone else will find it exciting and they will feel how much work you put into it.

  7. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  8. A: I typically stay within the Hip Hop/Rap domain, but I thoroughly enjoy working in all genres of music. I've recorded covers of Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication, Juke Box Hero - Foreigner and Passin' Me By - The Pharcyde; to name a few. I enjoy working with live production and recording live studio musicians, and I also really enjoy composing digitally from my laptop in my home studio.

  9. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  10. A: My strongest skill is creating and finding captivating sounds. That is half the battle, choosing what sounds fit together and compliment each other is the secret to creating solid compositions. When you find yourself trying to put massive amount of effects on instruments just to make them work, they aren't the right sounds.

  11. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  12. A: I bring a great old school/new vibe incorporating the new sounds that everybody loves such as the 808 Bass's that rattle the speakers, to the exotic reverb'd flutes that are topping the charts today or even to the double layered vocals with a million overdub tracks. I appreciate the work that goes into making these sounds, and understand the amount of work and precise attention goes into making those sounds possible.

  13. Q: What's your typical work process?

  14. A: I begin to work with the client to acquire the overall sound or result they want to receive at the end of the job. I will proceed with either laying down a nice sound or sample to begin off of, proceed to creating drums and then the rest is based on the song. When doing vocals, I really enjoy doing many overdubs and additional takes to give myself as much content to choose from to capture every ounce of personality in a take. On the technical side, I'll typically begin creating drums and bass lines in Logic, then either create the melodic instruments/sounds in Logic and proceed to Pro Tools for vocals and mixing/mastering or create the melodic instruments in Ableton Live then proceed to Pro Tools.

  15. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  16. A: I'm currently running solely digital in my own home studio. I use multiple DAW's when creating my works usually beginning in Logic and ending up Mixing & Mastering in Pro Tools. I typically rent microphones and outboard gear per job when it is required, otherwise I mainly stick to digitally-based plugins.

  17. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  18. A: As of right now I'm truly inspired by Kendrick Lamar and the team of Top Dawg Entertainment. Their marketing team is absolutely right on the market and Kendrick Lamar is delivering right to his niche.

  19. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  20. A: Typically I receive jobs for writing base instrumentals, laying the beds for the client to create their song on top of. Aside from this, I typically receive jobs requiring branding or promotional services.
