Carpal Studios

Carpal Studios on SoundBetter

I've been working in studios in London for the past 4 years as a record/mix engineer. I'm trying to make the price of DIY music production affordable by offering "in-the-box" services. I've got plenty of lofi noise-making toys to add gritty warmth if it calls for it. Apart from that, the prices quoted are for plugin-based processing.

Online audio services can be a faceless and lonely job. I love music and I love talking about music so discussing ideas with the artist is something I prefer to do. If you really want to try something new and explore concepts, I'm the engineer for you.

While I've used plenty of "vintage" and expensive gear in the studios I freelance at, this isn't necessarily what thrills me. I have a fascination with distortion and compression, as I'm sure most do. I love experimenting and pushing gear until it's sick. Developing concepts and applying them to sound design is a big plus for me. Recent experiments have seen me walking around London's old industrial sites and making binaural recordings of their impulse responses.
