Tremendous job, and so damn affordable! Revisions were never stalled and were always given when promised. :)

Interview with Millimeters of Mercury

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Digital. If you desire analog, you can always run a digital file through an analog process. The other way around doesn't work.

  3. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  4. A: To make your song sound the best it possibly can.

  5. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  6. A: Hearing what my customers bring to the table and enjoying their creativity.

  7. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  8. A: Q: Why do my vocals not sound as good as they do live? A: No matter the microphone or performer, there are effects that need to be done on a recording for a voice to sound good. EQing and reverb are two crucial ones.

  9. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  10. A: That I am altering your song or providing everything -- I'm clearing the dust so that your song shines through.

  11. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  12. A: What popular song would you say this song is most similar to or envision it being similar to?

  13. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  14. A: Have each part of your song in a separate track. This gives us much more freedom to perfect your song.

  15. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  16. A: My Roland synth, my Sennheiser headphones, my computer (obviously), mixer, and logic controller.

  17. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  18. A: I've been writing music since I was 12, so 15 years.

  19. Q: How would you describe your style?

  20. A: Eccentric but polished EDM.

  21. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  22. A: Polow. He has a very strong command of catchy riffs and strong bass.

  23. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  24. A: Listen to the song on a crap speaker, like your phone. If it sounds good on that, it'll sound good anywhere.

  25. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  26. A: EDM

  27. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  28. A: Mastering

  29. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  30. A: I bring the pop perfection -- the flawless studio-quality sound your song needs. After my treatment, your song will be LOUD, perfectly timed, and sound enormous.

  31. Q: What's your typical work process?

  32. A: I believe what is most important is to step back and see what the artist is really trying to bring to the table. Then I work on each track of the song to perfect it. Then review what I've done. Then I'll begin creating the mixdown, and applying that picture perfect gloss.

  33. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  34. A: Logic Studio, Impulse Controller, Sennheiser Monitors, Condensor Mics

  35. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  36. A: Pharrell, Polow, Bangladesh

  37. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  38. A: Mixing and mastering -- adding that enormous pop gloss to bring your song to life.
