To be honest the first time i was about to work with Christian i didn't know what to expect! But after working on my first track i knew that i needed to stay in touch with this guy. And so i did, and will always do, because I've tried so many different vocal Engineers but never have i ever gotten a result like this, until the day i started working with him.

Interview with OnlineMixing

  1. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  2. A: I have always had a big passion for music. I went to drumming lessons, piano lessons in public school. I made a lot of radio megamixes for radio broadcast. In the mean time I was a DJ, playing all over the country, produced a lot of electronic music and started playing the guitar. My passion for music was always there and now I started to develop as a mixing and mastering engineer which today is my highest priority regarding music.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I am currently mixing a pop song that could be the next major hit.

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Both - I love the simplicity and call back from digital. Analog feel and sound is something you cannot hate.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: I promise to take my client's projects seriously and do my absolute best to execute their artistic vision.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: Working with the one thing that I love doing the most every day.

  11. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  12. A: Q: How much to you charge for a mix? A: I charge $200 for a mix no matter how many audio tracks. Q: Can you do MFIT (mastered for iTunes)? A: Yes

  13. Q: How would you describe your style?

  14. A: Clean, warm and wide with a lot of character.

  15. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  16. A: I would like to work with artists that have a lot of passion for music. The artists that really want to get it right at the very beginning and not at the end. A great song starts with great recordings.

  17. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  18. A: Don't let any synthesizer, instrument or recordings clip. Simple is better. The greatest producers and engineers know when to leave something as is if there isn't a problem.

  19. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  20. A: I work in a lot of different genres. I am currently working on a lot of pop-rock songs.

  21. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  22. A: My strongest skill is to identify unwanted frequencies in a mix or in a mastering session as well as identifying the most important elements of the song.

  23. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  24. A: It depends on the song. When working on rock music is often want to get an analog feeling. When working on EDM music I often wanna go for a much wider, cleaner and bigger sound. Emotion, movement, punch, warmth and clarity are the main goals for my mixes and masters

  25. Q: What's your typical work process?

  26. A: I want to get as much information as I can about the song before I start touching faders. I want to know the musical vision and prioritized elements of the song. Then I listen a couple of times to the rough mix, take some notes and start to mix the absolute most important elements of the song. It's easier for me to wrap everything else around the top prioritized elements of the song.

  27. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  28. A: I have chosen to set up my studio for high-quality conversion and precise translation. I work in an acoustic treated room with absorption and diffusion. My current converter is Universal Audio Apollo 8.

  29. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  30. A: I am especially proud of a re-make I did for Silje Svea. It was originally a great Drum N bass track that deserved a lot of attention. I made a dubstep remake out of the track as well as the mixing and mastering. I remember thinking that I wouldn't ruin the track. I wanted to keep the spirit and feel of her vocal, just with another instrumental. It turned out to be amazing!

  31. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  32. A: Listen carefully to the engineer's portfolio and make sure you both understand what your song should sound like. References are preferred.

  33. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  34. A: The biggest misconception about what I do is to think that the audio engineer, can make a cowbell sound like an electric guitar. Great production = Great mix = Great Mastering.

  35. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  36. A: Which artists inspired you do make the track?

  37. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  38. A: Current inspirational sources, Fabrice Dupont, Ben Lindell, Steven Slate.

  39. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  40. A: Mixing and Mastering

  • Mixing a song for Le HomesMay 21, 2017

I am currently mixing a pop tune for some very talented artists that could be a top hit, especially in Denmark. Major labels are already interested in the song, so I'm very excited to give this song what is deserved.
