Anonymus intro

Hi there! My name is Thomas, I studied drums and popular music in London and live now back home in the north of Italy, in the middle of the Alps. In my homestudio I have the possibility to do professional multitrack drum recordings for you.
I love to focus on the groove and working out the right drumsound for your song. I mainly use vintage drums and record with Audient Pres and an Apollo interface.
I will send you the mix-ready separate tracks and if you wish I can also provide a mixed and processed stereo stem of the recorded drums, ready for mastering.
Find me on instagram @ebydrums for more videos.

Interview with Profile User 67301

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: Couldn´t choose, every work and record is like a little baby. You work on it to your best knowledge and capability, changing stuff and recording new things but then comes the moment and you have to let it go hoping others like it as much as you do.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: An album for an italian band doing a Pink Floyd style kind of thing, very open and airy sounding songs.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I´ve seen a lot well known drummer from the scene on SoundBetter and I´m happy that I can offer my service here as well.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: A mix of both.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: You will be happy.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Beeing creative.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: - What do you think about it, do you think it´s better this or that way? I´ll record another take for you, so you can choose later.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: Thinking that it´s done in 5 Minutes.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: What band/singer/record/song shoud it sound like?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: If you have a clear vision of the drumtrack in your mind, try to explain it as good as possible.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Ludwig Drums, Apollo

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I startet to play drums at the age of 10 because I had seen a drummer doing soundcheck on quite a big stage with a nice PA and I was blown away by that sound. After experiencing that (and the concert after) I wanted to do the same and it never really stoped from there. Music School, Bands, University ecc.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Groove playing focusing on the music

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: John Mayer. Don´t know, I was always attrected by his music and drummers as well.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Never stop learning and trying out new things!

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I would say pop in general but I like to work also on funk, rock, soul, blues, country. The beautiful thing for me is it to make it feel right, regardless the stile of music.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Less is more

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I think I bring to the song that liveliness and energy midi drums cannot deliver.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: Communication is key! First I´m trying to get a clear picture of what the client wants and hears for his song. After that I want to find the right drums/snare, play the song and try to get that vibe and sound.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I record mostly Vintage Ludwig drums, I just love how they sound and feel. I do change snare drum a lot though, as I think it is very important to find the right one for every song. I record with audient pres and the apollo 8 interface with neve and api unisons, getting a a total of 14 tracks.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Thinking about modern studio drummers I´m absolutely thinking about 2 names: Ash Soan and Aaron Sterling.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I mainly replace midi drum tracks but also bring in my own ideas if the producer/ singer-songwriter wants me to.
