Christian Rougeau Violin

Session Fiddler/Violinist

Christian Rougeau Violin on SoundBetter

I'm one of Boston's favorite local violinists. I've been gigging in the area since I was 17 and I've studied violin performance at Berklee College of Music. I perform, arrange, and record.

I'm a pop, jazz, r&b, hip-hop, rock, and country violin performer and arranger. I specialize in multi-layered harmonies and solos, but I can perform any task within the capabilities of my instrument. I don't like to play classical music, and I don't specialize in it - but I can certainly add a flavorful string section to just about anything.

If you'd like to come and see me perform, you can catch me at the Faneuil Hall Marketplace in Boston over the summers, or you can check out the tour schedule for my band Juice.

I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Interview with Christian Rougeau Violin

  1. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  2. A: Violin adds soul and depth to any piece of music, and I play with a very unique color.

  3. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  4. A: I record my tracks into Logic through either my condenser mic or my electric violin and various pedals. I'm very particular about the sound I produce, and spend lots of time trying to perfect it.

  5. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  6. A: Peter Lee Johnson, Boyd Tinsley, DSharp, Stephane Grappelli, Mark O'Connor -- people who have expanded the definition of what it means to be a violinist

  7. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  8. A: Violin that compliments an otherwise completed song; interludes, solos, padded chords or melody lines. That said, I do all types of violin work.
