Interview with Faith Productions

  1. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  2. A: I started out being a musician. I was in a band in high school, and we cut a demo. Since I 1st stepped into that studio...I wanted to be on this side of the music industry. So I went to school for my education in Audio Engineering, and have been doing it off and on for about 15 years now.

  3. Q: How would you describe your style?

  4. A: Very laid back approach to how I see things at the start...but creative and visionary. Very pushing the envelope to where people say "You can do that...it goes against everything!"

  5. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  6. A: Metallica...just because I grew up listening to them since 1983, and following them up until their latest release of Hardwired! I would also really like to work with Taylor Swift...because I feel her music, feel, and production is in a class that sets her apart from others in the industry today.

  7. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  8. A: Always be true to your vision and creativity...but never let them get in the way of the artists vision and creativity.

  9. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  10. A: I usually work on pop or rock and heavy metal. I grew up in the 80's and on a steady diet of the early metal influences of Megadeth, Metallica, and Slayer, so I have a very keen ear on how a good rock or metal album should sound, and how to achieve that. However, I also have other works that I like to do...like gospel, or country, or R&B.

  11. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  12. A: I believe my strongest skill is the ability to hear and create a great mix, and follow through with that greatness to post production. It produces a very cohesive and unique end product that is usually embraced with open arms and great satisfaction with an exceptional end result...while keeping true to the artist vision and voice.

  13. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  14. A: I believe I bring a passion and creativity to each song individually...I usually have an unorthodox approach to how I go about mixing and ultimately mastering, that leads to a very unique sound and overall feel to each song. I also bring an unwavering dependability and drive to each project I am blessed enough to work on.

  15. Q: What's your typical work process?

  16. A: I typically like to get in touch with the client to talk about what they feel they want the project to sound like, and what their hopes and aspirations are for the final production. I then take that vision...and apply it to the way I go about creating the mix, and ultimately the final production at the Mastering sessions. I never want to wander away from the artists vision at any time during the projects time in my possession.

  17. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  18. A: Right now, its in a bit of a transition...but it consists of a Pro Tools full software and hardware set up including a Control 24 board and Waves software among other outboard gear. I hope to have an upgraded C|24 board in the very near future, with other modifications and improvements. This is all in a basement home studio with Rokit monitors and sub, and full acoustic sound trapping as well as sound isolation in the ceiling and walls.

  19. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  20. A: I have always been a huge fan of Rick Rubin and Nicolas Essig as far as production professionals are concerned. They are just above and beyond...and keep the artists vision and sound pure and true! As for musicians...David Gilmour, Adam Young of Owl City, Korn, Metallica, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, Thom Yorke, Coldplay, Dave Matthews, Miles Davis, SRV, Mozart and Joe Satriani...just to name a few of a VERY long long list!

  21. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  22. A: The most common work I do for my clients is post recording mixing and song production. From one song to an entire album As well as this type of service...it usually leads to the post production area of Mastering each track after the mixing process is complete. All with the artists input and vision every step of the way!
