Interview with Charles Knox

  1. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  2. A: Always reference tracks! I CANNOT stress how important it is! Don't fall victim to AM syndrome!

  3. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  4. A: I usually work with Rock/pop/Indie/country/punk or blues. I would love to step out of my comfort zone and try something new though!

  5. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  6. A: Honesty & perfection

  7. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  8. A: I usually bring a hook to a piece of music. The average overall time it takes to a listener recognise a hook is 5 seconds.

  9. Q: What's your typical work process?

  10. A: Tea and more tea :D

  11. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  12. A: My studio set-up started of as a garage with no treatment or anything. Over the years I have developed it into a hub for local musicians and high profile clients to come and work.

  13. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  14. A: The cliché answer Butch Vig. But honestly, it has been probably working with many professionals that have succeeded with their careers that has inspired me.

  15. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  16. A: I do a mixture of Live Sound and Studio work.
