Interview with S€RALAND

  1. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  2. A: Personally don't see it as a job to be honest, but what I love about it is the creative side, and the fact that I have an input into all of it.

  3. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  4. A: A$AP Rocky. I'm a huge fan, I'd like to know what goes on in his head! He's great. Nekfeu, Sneazzy, Niska, Sfera Ebbasta, Hugz Hefner. I'd love to know how I could work with people from different cultures and language.

  5. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  6. A: Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Drake, French Montana, Zaytoven, MasterKraft, WizKid, YoungJohn, Hugz Hefner, BBP Prod., NFK Trackbastardz.

  7. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  8. A: I mainly undertake beat making services.

  9. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  10. A: Anything I do. You've gotta be proud of it all, the good and the bad, because that's the only way you learn and pick up new skills.

  11. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  12. A: Trying to make my own instrumental album, showcasing the strenghts that I can bring. I am hopefully going to promote this and see what other credits I can add to my currently very short list.

  13. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  14. A: Hard work.

  15. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  16. A: Would you be interested in working with me in the future in further projects?

  17. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  18. A: Patience. I feel like most customers, expect the hit. I feel like they have to realise that they too have a part to play in it and I benefit from that quite a lot, so yes, I try my best and you try your best too!

  19. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  20. A: Go with your instict, if something doesn't feel/sound right,at the end of the day it's your call, you'll be punished for what you missed out and what you "wished" you could've done better.

  21. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  22. A: Rap, Trap Hip-Hop and in some ways World.

  23. Q: What's your typical work process?

  24. A: If I'm working by myself, I normally just sit down, listen to a few tracks and start laying beats for hours on end. If I have enought ime, daily I try to hit about north 5 beats. With clients? I first ask whether they just want me to get on with it and see what I come up with or tailor the beat around someone specific. If it's the latter, I try to tailor the beat that they request around their needs. I instantly go check out the artist that they ask and try to incorporate their sound into the beat where I can.
