Anonymus intro

Hi friends. I'm N8oR (Nator) and I love hearing new and exciting music to work on and I look forward to providing my services to help your music shine as it should.

I started producing and mixing in 2001 and have built my own, fully equipped recording studio.

The Crib Recording Studio is based around an all digital set up running Logic pro X as the main software of choice for all mixing, sequencing and editing duties.

Working "within the box" helps me to pass the savings on to you by keeping maintenance and consumables to a minimum.

Not only do I mix and edit music I also love remixing artists music into other genres to help grow their fanbase. Turning a simple, catchy ballad into a hot EDM track or Hip Hop vibe song can really make an artist get their streaming numbers up.

I'm available for session work (guitar, bass, synth, drum programming) and production in the genres of Rock, Pop, Metal and Hip Hop.

No two mixes are ever the same because no two songs are ever the same. I find joy in seeking for that "magic" within each mix I work on. No templates, no shortcuts taken. I pay attention to your music because you've spent so much time writing and recording it that it only makes sense to hand your hard work over to someone who feels the same and understands the love involved in the entire process. Leave your songs with me. I'll take good care of them.

Would love to hear from you. Click the contact button above to get in touch.

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: My band's current EP which I recorded, mixed and produced.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Working on my band's next single.

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Digital. It's just quicker to work with and sounds great.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: I promise to do my best to achieve the final vision they have for their work.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: I get very little distractions which helps me focus on what i need to achieve. I tend to get lost in what I do. I love it so much.

  11. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  12. A: Q. Do i add the reverbs/delays to the vocals before sending the individual tracks to you? A. I prefer them dry. Unless the effect is on there as part of the "character" for the track eg. the reverb is used as a weird, specific effect that won't hurt the final mix when it comes to placing the sound in it's individual space.

  13. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  14. A: That everything I do will sound like a Heavy Metal just because I play in a Metal band.

  15. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  16. A: Are you prepared to do any further recording if needed? What artist do you wish to sound similar to or are inspired by? What is your budget?

  17. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  18. A: Have a clear vision of what you want your project to sound like.

  19. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  20. A: 1. A guitar 2. Laptop with Logic Pro X 3. A microphone 4. An audio interface 5. Decent pair of headphones

  21. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  22. A: Started as a bass player at the age of 13. Played in many Metal bands in high school then branched out to playing with funk, pop, rock and jazz bands in my later teens. In my 20's I decided to buy some recording equipment (as digital audio interfaces and computers where becoming cheaper to buy) and started producing and recording songs for friends who played in bands. From there on it's just grown and my studio became my dream job.

  23. Q: How would you describe your style?

  24. A: No nonsense

  25. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  26. A: I've always wanted to work with Prince. Sadly I may never get that chance. R.I.P Prince.

  27. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  28. A: Don't lose sight of the message being conveyed by the song. Keep it simple and to the point. Don't confuse the listener by over-doing it with the instrumentation.

  29. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  30. A: I receive a lot of Hip Hop style tracks from guys who do much of their own production and vocal recording with their own set up.

  31. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  32. A: I feel my strongest skill is being able to tell if the arrangement is going to work for the song handed to me by the artist. Many of times I manage to figure out exactly what the artist wanted even tho they were't to sure themselves. They give me their tracks but the majority of the times less is more. I hone into what the song is trying to convey and take away any of the excess sounds in certain parts of the song that may be cluttering the message.

  33. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  34. A: Excitement. That's the number one thing I tend to go for when working on a mix. From the very first sound you hear it must make the listener's ears perk up and keep them that way til the very final note.

  35. Q: What's your typical work process?

  36. A: I start of with hearing the rough mix provided by the artist. This helps me get the vibe they're after. I then import all their track stems and proceed to start balancing the sounds. Once I feel like I have a vibe going I will pull up a similar, commercially released song and use that as my reference to fine tune the final mix.

  37. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  38. A: I do everything within Logic Pro X. I find It's more than adequate to do a full mix without having to rely on any extra outboard gear. With some extra 3rd party plugins I can work fast and efficiently which helps keep costs down.

  39. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  40. A: Prince, Michael Jackson, Rick Rubin, Max Martin,Jimmy Iovine, Berry Gordy, J Dilla, Babyface, Timbaland, Brian Wilson, Quincy Jones, George Martin

  41. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  42. A: Mixing and production
