How important is our work for everyone? Only be a moneymaker alone is not enough. It should be more than just work, it should be a determination. The determination to renew itself, to prosper or set high goals is a need that our attitude has a positive effect. At this point is the effectiveness of our work at the highest level and more exciting.

    Luckily my paths has crossed with dear Yilmaz in many of the projects I've managed. I was privileged to do so not only because he is a good sound engineer but also he has extensive experience in troubleshooting live sound systems which helped us to overcome many problems and obstructions along the way. Interview with Yilmaz Yeniyol

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: There a lot of productions. One of them is a song with Seven Aksu and Ibrahim Tatlises. A pop song by Sezen Aksu was produced with the traditional singer Ibrahim Tatlises. I have to write, record and mix the drums, key, bass and vocals in one night. That was very difficult but I managed it. The both of the Artist was at this time the popular artist in Turkey.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Song mixing and Live concert Jobs.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Is too early to say something.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Analog ist great and its my first choice, but on digital you can work faster and have a lot of opportunities to work more creativity. To work with the those technology in the right sequence is the best way.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: No promise, because the production can be developed in the production phase, it is important to clarify the customer something that can become something unique.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Something to make the listener feel emotions. Once you do this, the rest is only details.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Whether I can use all buttons. Mostly I just laugh and say '' No, I do not need the buttons. ''

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: I'm not a wizard. I can make from silver gold, but from shit no silver.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: First what they want to achieve and why they do it.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Have no advice for them, they certainly know what they want.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Lewitt microphones, yamaha digital desk with Dante, two active speaker, MacBookPro, power generator and my family..

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: As a sound man I'am born. The most things in my job I do instinctive. I have a lot of experience because since over 20 years I have done so many different things. Every kind of a job gave me different viewpoints.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: No style, the style of the production is more important as my style. I can change my mind ver fast and I adapt quickly to a production.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: The most of them is dead, but I have worked with the musicians and artist like MFÖ, Ajda Pekkan, Sezen Aksu and Levent Yüksel and one of the importants is Randy Crawford and Jermaine Jackson.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: There a lot of tips. I think one of the best tip is, to listen. Don't listen the sound at the first, listen the music and to try feel emotions. Because music is an art to feel at the first listening. Most of the listeners don't listen the sound, the listen the groove, the listen the text and after that they realize the sound.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Blues, Rock, Jazz or Symphonical sound. In the studio is plus pop sound.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: I can work without SoundCheck. I can do a lot of things on the desk in a short time.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: If the song have a message, so to find the right balance for this message. If the work have I a specially art, then I give the work this specially sound.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: The right preparation is the half of the work. So I need at the first a lot of infos about the product, song or sound. After that I make a really good preparation. If the preparation not correct or not enough perfect is that not a problem because though the prework I have a lot of information, so I have a lot of space for creativity.

  39. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  40. A: The love of music and the live music still has something to do with emotion.

  41. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  42. A: Important is to create technically musical space for musicians. As a musician I understand the language of the musicians particularly well, which is why I am very popular with musicians.
