Jeff Lusby-Breault on SoundBetter

I have worked with many artists around Arizona and the United States. Had the incredible fortune to play on and mix an Alice Cooper track. (cover of The Refreshments' "Banditos") I am very experienced in the rock and hard-rock genres, but love mixing anything you can throw at me. Open to working with your budget. Every project is different.

I specialize in mixing Rock, pop/rock & hard rock.
I also offer session guitar, bass and drum tracks remotely.
Open to working with your budget. Every project is different.

I mix using a hybrid analog and digital workflow. I work in Pro Tools 12 with MANY great plugins.
My approach to mixing a song is all about the feeling I want to get from listening to it. My mixes move. I use a lot of automation; levels, eq, FX, etc. I like to make a mix breathe and have a dynamic push and pull.

My passion for mixing and producing started in the early 2000's when my band, Mercy Fall, was recording at studios in New York, LA, and Phoenix. Having been a musician since the mid-90's, it suddenly struck me that there was so much that goes into making a great recording, and I felt a responsibility to fully understand as a musician what these engineers around me were doing to make our songs sound good.

After signing with Atlantic Records in 2004 and releasing an album in 2006, I began to shift my focus to producing and mixing other artists professionally, and have been doing it every day since. I spend most days in my studio producing, tracking live instruments, and mixing. As a guitarist, singer, songwriter, and performer, I also provide my clients with backing vocals and session playing (guitar, bass, drums, percussion) when needed.

Jeff has produced, recorded and/or mixed six albums of mine. It was obvious from the first time I met him that he was serious and focused on getting the best audio results from anyone he’s working with. I have learned a lot from him and the way he works. He’s very good at what he does and is dedicated to helping you achieve what you hear in your head. I highly recommend him!

Jeff is great at what he does! I have worked with Jeff on two of VeloValo's full-length projects and could not be happier with what has come out of it. He knows and loves music and its apparent in the work that he does.

Over the past 10 years, I have had the pleasure of working with Jeff on at least 20 projects with Muskellunge, Dave Logan, Nolan McKelvey, my jazz groups and many more. He has amazing ears and usually knows what I would fix or change before I can say it. I would highly recommend Jeff to mix, master, produce and engineer to anyone and everyone.

It was a great experience and I felt very fortunate to work with Jeff on two CD projects. Jeff has great patience and empathy in working with a myriad of artists, bands and song writers. Regardless of the genre he rises to the occasion with excellence.

Jeff has great ears and works very efficiently. He knows what he is doing in the studio and is also very respectful, and patient. I wanted someone who I could trust with lots of experience to help me mix my album and and make it sound as good as possible. He's an all around wonderful guy to work with. I highly recommend him!

Jeff is a fantastic SONG based producer, mixer and player. He takes the time to really get to know the project and what it is trying to be. He approached Mixing and tracking choices purely from a place of passion, always striving to come away with the best song possible. Jeff takes your project personally, and he will help you make your project exactly how you imagine it!

We took my 13-year daughter into Jeff's studio to record some of her original tracks for a demo. The experience was phenomenal. Not only does Jeff have a keen ear and passion for delivering the "sound goods," but he's a super nice guy to work alongside.

I've had the pleasure of working with Jeff on several projects ranging from album rock and metal to pop and soft indie folk stuff. He is the king of great sound, with an incredible ear for punchy percussion, huge guitar tone--whether screaming distortion or crystal clarity--and creative, inspired vocal processing to suit any style and sit perfectly in the mix. Always ready to listen and adjust!
