Interview with Studio A

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I recorded a young group called Farrogo. Later in life they all became famous in musc. I was their music producer. They made me proud and are leaving their musical mark in the world. Especially today we can all finally leave our own musical mark. So go out there and record your great track and share it with the world forever. Cheers

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I'm always working on several projects.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: No

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Analog audio chain in and out but digitally recorded. Why, well that's a deep topic so lets just say top analog gear just sounds better to me.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I'll do my best

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: It's for a good cause.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: How much does it cost.....a donation to a charity for children to learn music for free or affordable.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That I should be able to make anyone's music sound great, even a bad singer, bad guitar player, bad writer, bad producer...

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: That really depends on how much the artist wants to know. They usually have a lot of questions so I try to listen to them first. I usually only ask questions that help the song or track move along towards completion.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Simply to have a song that their passionate about that they want to have a copy of to last them a lifetime, to enjoy, to help others.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: 5 long burning grand pianos

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I've been doing this for most of my life but as a career I only have done it for charity. I have never charged anyone for my work.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: I like my music to sound tight and defined yet warm and inspirational.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: John Mayer because he has so many more guitar pedals than I do.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Don't over work your music. Work harder on the core elements than the fillers.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I work on every type of music from Electro to Opera

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Lyrics and melody. I also play many instruments and I am pretty good with my gear.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I've been writing ,performing ,producing and recording for 40 yrs.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: Like most I talk about the sound and style. Work out the best beat and bass. Then usually just record as many tracks as I can and then start putting together the mix as I go along so that by the end of the session the artist can take a mix home to listen to

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: Studio A is all about warmth, sharing, inspiration and hope. The studio area is small but surrounded with some of the best sounding analog and digital gear. 95% of the studio is analog. Theres cool lightng too.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: That list is too large but at the moment I'm digging John Mayer and Jean-Michel Jarre. Both are keeping a popular music alive. Both add new production to their instrument.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I write and produce most of the music as well as handling all aspects of the recording process
