Interview with Kendall Sanders
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital. We are moving toward an age of electronics. What once took 15 people to make now takes one guy with a laptop. That's where producers like myself come in. I work from home while still bringing quality productions. Although I do prefer the sound of analog; digital is the way to go for our generation.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am currently working on an EP. I have a name, concept, & song list but I would like to keep my ideas to myself until they're released.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: If you don't like what I make for you, I will give you 2 remakes. I will remake it for you twice with your notes & direction.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Porter Robinson, Madeon, Zedd
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Put good in, get good out. If you send me a project file that isn't good, it can be difficult to make it great. Although I will do my best to make you look & sound professional with what you give me.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been producing for about 3 years now. I plan to release an original EP early next year & start playing live shows locally. Then grow from there.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Mainly modern electronic with some influences from 80s style songs & classic video game music.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Listen with your ears, not your eyes.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Distorted chiptune, 80s influence projects, as well as classic EDM.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Synth design & sample chopping. I love taking an instrument & destroying it with sample editing to make it sound glitchy & distorted.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring originality, energy, & sometimes beauty.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I typically start by writing the chords out in piano & then go back & design the sound for each instrument. I prefer to lie out most or all of the song before going back & tweaking, compressing, & adding what needs to be there.
