Mihael Vrbanic on SoundBetter

Hi, I’m Mihael Vrbanic! I’m Mixing & Mastering Engineer. I have a degree in Audio Engineering from Music Production Academy. I’m very passionate about music and investigating new sounds. I’m so excited to work with you on Mixing & Mastering your record. Check out my portofolio!

I’m Mixing & Mastering Engineer. But also I’m an artist. I went on Jazz Academy in Vienna, and studied jazz guitar for a while. And I play a couple of more instruments, so if you want I can be your extra +1 musican in your band, and record some extra tracks if needed. Further on, if you have some troubles with the arrangment, I can help you to set things right with that too.

Now, here you can see what are my service offers for you, and what are the prices for those offers.

I do Editing, Mixing and Mastering. You can hire me to do the whole package, but also I can do things separately. For example, only Mixing.

I price my work on project rate. So if you want me to do the whole package (Editing, Mixing & Mastering), it costs 160$ per project.

Separately, Editing costs 20$, Mixing costs 100$, and Mastering costs 40$.

Interview with Mihael Vrbanic

  1. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  2. A: Most of the mixes that I get, are rock, hard rock, pop, blues, or folk genre of music. Further on, I play jazz music on the guitar the most of the time. On violin I play folk music, and on bass I play different styles. On piano I make my music which sounds like jazz. I listen to jazz a big part of my time, but I also listen to other kinds of music, such as rock, or blues for example.

  3. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  4. A: I really don't know that any of my friends and colleagues are on SoundBetter.

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Analog and digital both have advantages and defects. I like it both. It's more fun to me, when you are doing the analog way. But unfortunately it also costs a lot more. So, everybody should do the way they can afford.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: I promise you that I will do my best to deliver you a product (on time) that will make you happy and satisfied. :)

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: The fact that I love what I do, so I don't think about it as a job.

  11. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  12. A: The most common question that I get from the customers is " do you have any experience in doing this job? ".. My answer is " I do " or " no, I don't have any experience but I would like to make it "

  13. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  14. A: I think the most important piece of any studio is the person who runs it.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That I'm to young to do it "properly".. How can anybody do music properly? You just try to do it the best as you can!

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: It depends on the client. But my most common questions are like: Can I hear your music?, What are you trying to do with this project for which you are considering to hire me?, etc...

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: I just wish you all a good luck in finding your providers! :)

  21. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  22. A: You can read it in my description at the beginning of the page.

  23. Q: How would you describe your style?

  24. A: Open.

  25. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  26. A: I'm always open for any kind of music, and for any type of people/ artist.

  27. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  28. A: Listen to the music. Connect with it. Feel it! And most important of all; enjoy it!

  29. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  30. A: . I like music and this the reason I consume it every day in all kinds of ways. By playing it, making it, producing it or listening to it. I have a lot of skills and I try to improve them every day. It is very important to aim in that direction, because it is the only way to make progress in life.

  31. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  32. A: I always try to bring to a song some pieces of me in a way that is detectable. Of course we all hear music in fell music in all kinds of ways. But it is important for me, to deliver a project to a client, and that he is the one who is satisfied. So I always look for a way to compensate the clients hearing and feeling of the music, and mine personal.

  33. Q: What's your typical work process?

  34. A: First of all when somebody brings a project to me. I like to ponder the music which is this project similar to, to have some kind of a reference. I listen to the project so I can get acquainted with it. And after that, I start to work on it. Of course there is a lot things to do; preparing tools for it, editing the project, and so on. I developed my personal workflow through all my projects, so now I need less time, and have much more efficiency.

  35. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  36. A: Jazz musicians inspire me the most, and that's because I really love improvising and new things. But to extract a couple of names right now, that would be hard. It would be a very very long list. I listen every day a different album of different music, so it is a lot of music, and production and of course, a lot of different, beautiful styles and musicians.

  37. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  38. A: My most common type of work is mixing. That is what I do the most of the time. I really enjoy it. But also sometimes I'm hired to do the mastering too. And of course people hire me occasionally as a session guitarist or bassist.
