Cutting his teeth at renowned Melbourne studio Sing Sing, Aaron has developed a reputation as an in demand Mixer and Producer. He has collaborated with The Avalanches, Danny Brown, G-Eazy & Britney Spears, Angus and Julia Stone, Matt Corby, Swell, Big Words, X Factor, Alex Lahey and many more.
His works have received various awards and nominations, charted in top 10 ARIA charts, accumulated hundreds of millions of streams and achieved critical acclaim in a wide variety of publications.

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: The Avalanches 'Wildflower' spent over 3 years of my life working on the record and am so happy with the response to it. Going platinum helps too
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My personal studio is running protools, I've got Focal Monitors, NS-10s and Auratones. A bunch of vintage and new outboard such as; Retro 176, 1176s, Distressors, AKG Bx20 Spring, Smart C1, and a other pieces. I also have a lot of cool guitar pedals and other random toys that also work their way into mixes. I also have access to various large format consoles at Sing Sing Studios for an additional fee.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been doing this for 11sh years. I started as an Assistant and then Engineer/Mixer at Sing Sing Recording Studios in Melbourne and have been freelance for the last 6 years.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: either, depends on the production and workflow.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: you'll love it
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: All of it
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Its easy and that the hours are good.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I try to just make the song speak for itself, i want the song to grab my attention and make me interested, so whatever it is i have to do to make that happen.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Paul McCartney, because he's a genius and the man doesnt stop.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: why be cool when you can be awesome
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Generally music with guitars, be it Indie , Emo, Folk, Punk. But I try and do all sorts of genres, it keeps me on my toes and everything informs everything else.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Bringing the good bits out of songs and making it punch but still feel warm.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: When mixing i want to hear the rough mix so I know what you've been hearing. I want to get a vibe for the song, move with it and see what is the most important part in each section, is it the vocal, the bass, the guitars. I want to make sure thats the part that leads in those sections. Then I press play on the session and go.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I love John Congleton's style of production, the way he can take a sound and twist it but still make it seem real inspires me.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I like to make the sounds people hear in their heads come to life, whether thats a recording some weird fucked up guitar sound or a beautiful violin, i want to get it out of your head and make something new.
