  1. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  2. A: Jack Cole

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: Digital - why faff about with external gear when most plugins can do the same job.

  5. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  6. A: Who do you want to sound like, why? What do you sound like live.

  7. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  8. A: Give me lots to work with so I can pick and choose and find not only the best performances, but the ones that work well together.

  9. Q: How would you describe your style?

  10. A: .

  11. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  12. A: My Martin acoustic, Clarett 2Pre, U87, Macbook Pro, headphones.

  13. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  14. A: Playing and recording in bands, college, live sound engineer for 5/6 years, university, working for an professional audio company.

  15. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  16. A: I'd love to work with Tim Vantol or The King Blues as almost everything is acoustic instruments other than bass which creates a very rich mix and great environment to record in.

  17. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  18. A: Don't do to much soloing and concentrating on particular effects. Change most things in context of the track.

  19. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  20. A: Acoustic punk, folk, metal, classical.

  21. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  22. A: Balancing

  23. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  24. A: Good ears, a little rawness, I love raw sounding busy records so that comes through in my mixes.

  25. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  26. A: Clarett 8PreX going into a set of Yamaha HS5s, Specced up 2012 Macbook Pro. Pro Tools, Ableton Live.

  27. Q: What's your typical work process?

  28. A: Get a solid balance and sounding track, make it sound great, go arty if possible and then finish off to the artists requirements

  29. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  30. A: Green Day, Brian Fallon, Butch Vig, Scheps, Cavallo, Zappa.

  31. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  32. A: Mostly mixing work, can do some session guitar, bass and BVs
