Hello, My Name is Ryan. I am a Mixing and Mastering engineer from Rochester, Washington. I have Mixed and Mastered albums from artists such as: Transcend: https://soundcloud.com/icarussoundstudio/transcend-guidance-album-teaser Unto the Lion: https://soundcloud.com/icarussoundstudio/unto-the-lion-a-choice-of-origin-album-teaser

Hello,

My studio is an online Mixing and Mastering service. That means that if you have music already recorded and are looking for someone to mix and master your material, you can send your music here to have it mixed and mastered. Here are some of the benefits of hiring me for your bands next record:

Revisions are free and unlimited. That way your music can sound exactly the way you'd like it too without a large bill by the end of production and the freedom to make changes if need be.

Your first song can be mixed and mastered for free so you can experience what working with me will be like before making any commitments.

Click the 'Contact' above to get in touch. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Ryan came to our church and helped us with a major sound issue. He was very professional and took charge of the situation. People at our church were very impressed with the sound this week. He was incredibly knowledgeable and professional . I Highly recommend Ryan for your sound needs. Chey Huber

Interview with Ryan Clark

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I am especially proud of my work with the band Transcend. Their music is a joy to listen to. The emotion was already there before I even touched the music. It was my first full album mixing and mastering for a client, and it will always be my favorite.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Currently I am working to find new clients.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I don't know him personally, but I am familiar with the mixing engineer Noad Nevo. He is a famous mixing engineer whose work can be seen in many Waves Audio online seminars.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: I prefer digital at the moment because it is more portable. However, if given the chance, I would love to work with analog gear!

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I promise to you, the client, that I will deliver your music to you the way you would like to hear it. I promise I will do everything I can to ensure that your art is something you want to hear for the rest of your life.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I love that I can see how an artist constructed his/her songs from the ground up. I also love knowing that I helped make a song or an album sound the way it does.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Unfortunately most customers ask me if I'll work for PR. Most cases I will say no.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: A big misconception is that I can fix a bad instrument take. Yes, there is some editing that I can do to align your drums to a click track, and I know how to edit a guitar, bass, vocal track and many more. However, that doesn't mean you had a great take. That just means that I can make your tracks play together perfectly.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: Many times when a client is interested, ill ask for what music they enjoy the most as early as possible in order to connect with the client on a more personal level and understand how their music came to be, and how their music was inspired.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: I would say the best advice I could give is to thoroughly research what the job of a mixing and mastering engineer is. If need be, I am perfectly happy to tell you. However, it happens when I am asked to work for a band and they think a mixing engineer is a recording engineer. Many haven't even heard of a "Mastering Engineer" before.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: If I was on a desert island and I could bring any five pieces of gear I wanted, I would definitely bring with me a: Acoustic guitar a violin some hand drums a microphone and a laptop and hope I can find some power.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I am mainly a self taught engineer. However, I have had experience as an intern in recording studios.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: I would say that my style focuses mostly on how clean a mix can be, but without compromising musicality.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would love to work with an artist called Skyharbor at one point. Their writing and musical performances are beyond amazing.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Make sure that there is always something interesting happening in every moment of your song that can draw the focus of the listener.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Usually my clients are from metal bands, but I would love to expand my horizon's and work with other genres!

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: I'd say my strongest skill is my ability to communicate with an artist to try and achieve exactly what they would like to hear out of their music.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I believe that, as an audio engineer, I can bring a more classical approach to mixing music, like a conductor does with a symphony. Just as a conductor can draw and audiences focus to the most important parts of a piece, it is my job as a mixer to help bring out the best parts of a song at any given moment.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: When I start mixing, ill generally take a few minutes to listen through and take notes on what draw's my focus. Then, I will take notes on what I'd like to accomplish in mixing a track.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I work from a home studio. I use M1Active 520 studio monitors from Alesis, and I edit, mix, and master all clientele music in Reaper by Cockos.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I am very inspired by the work of Forester Savell and Acle Kahney's style of mixing and mastering.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: In the past, much of the work I do for my clients is a complete package of editing, mixing, and mastering.
