Endorse MIXED BY S.A.W.Working with Stephen made me a better musician and songwriter. Recording our album entirely in mono meant pulling each song apart and getting right done to the core of the sound and melody. Stephen was essential in this task. The pre-production, support and advice has resulted in an album that we had wanted to make for years.
Band had literally hit rock bottom. Everyone wanted to quit. Stephen turned everything around for us and helped us finally make the music we had always heard in our heads. Guy knows how to construct a record. Highly recommend. Especially to anyone wanting to make a big pop record. Dan x
Stephen produced and mixed our album this year. Start to finish was an incredible experience, and we came away with a record 10 times better than we could have imagined. Get it sorted, work with Stephen Watkins!
I've made an album, a live record, an EP and a single with Stephen and each time he has provided great advice, a nurturing environment, brought the best performances out of me and also put the kettle on regularly. His mixes are aggressive, polished (without diminishing the passion of the track) and bold. They sound like a million dollars.

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I take music from other studio and home recording sessions in multitrack format and torture the excitement out of it on a basis daily.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog: Non Linearity. Multing. Component failure related character. Hands on. Gigantic electricity bills.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Altec 436C, SSL Duality Console, Lexicon 224, Sony Dre 2000, DBX 120 Subharmonic Generator.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Pipe HItting.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Double Espresso. Faders UP. Everything in the red. Double Espresso. Engage automation. Punch the sky. Send to client.
