Interview with Robin Ghosh

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I was classically trained originally but eventually branched out into other styles and sounds. I received a Bachelor of Music degree and subsequently attended Berklee College of Music where I studied music production and guitar performance. I have been working in the music industry for 15 years in both Nashville and Los Angeles.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Emotion over everything.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Typically, a client will send me a backing track with instructions and sound references. I will then track all the parts and send files back. Although I specialize in acoustic instruments, I also have a variety of electric guitars, basses and effects at my disposal should your production call for that.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I track guitars for producers and songwriters all over the world.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Pro Tools user since 2005. Apogee conversion. I record with a variety of microphones from Neumann, Manley, Sennheiser, Rode and Shure.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Experience in a variety of roles (songwriter, producer, engineer, instrumentalist) in different genres of music. Wearing these different hats helps me make better creative decisions.
