Interview with Circle Of Dreams Entertainment

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: I am always in a constant music composition and creation.

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: Digital... Cause "ain't nobody got time for that!"

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: money back guarantee.

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: conception to mastering.... It all intrigues me

  9. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  10. A: That I can work for free. I have a lot of money invested in myself, and my bills don't get paid by working for free.

  11. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  12. A: Is this a hobby, or career oriented? What is your budget?

  13. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  14. A: Make sure that you have some kind of vibe/bond/understanding. You don't wanna record your explicit love ballad with your grandpa, would you?

  15. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  16. A: Logic, 2 near field monitors, 15' subwoofer.

  17. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  18. A: Ive been doing this longer than anything else I have done in my life. I will do this forever. In some form or fashion.

  19. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  20. A: If you start with your drums while mixing FIRST it will leave your song more dynamic when you mix everything with the drums. If vocals are present, set the vocals to I nice loud volume (read your output meter) then move to your drums. THEN when you have a rough mix sitting comfy around -6Db with no effects on the master buss, and turn your speakers down as quiet as you can hear noise from them, then turn them down some more. then turn them up thill you can hear either the snare vocal or kick and you wil see which one it too loud, which will make your song have more dynamic.

  21. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  22. A: Hip-Hop is my strongest experience, but that would not keep me from working on your Irish Bag Pipe songs. ; )

  23. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  24. A: Customer satisfaction. Quality Production. No corner cutting.

  25. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  26. A: I make sure that you are putting your best version of yourself out to the public. If I don't think you said a word correct? I'll ask you to record it again "from the top". If you come in to strong, I will stop and explain... and start again.

  27. Q: What's your typical work process?

  28. A: I like to interview the recording artist, or management, get a general idea of there expectations. Relate any concerns with the clients expectations. request music before session, so I can pre make projects for incredibly fast work flow. On recording day I relax and banter a little with the client to get them comfortable with me as a stranger. Then start with some mic placement trials of the songs, the pic one, and then shoot for the moon.

  29. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  30. A: I help my signal flow as clean and direct as possible. Which "at first" can sound dead" which is better than too echoey. My recording will check out with ANY professional studio. I Guarantee that.

  31. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  32. A: I am eclectic with my taste in music. I am a sucker for a great voices, and bass; together put me into bliss. As a Hip-Hop head growing up in the south, I have always had an obsession with deep lyrics, and in your face bass lines. Mike Will Made It is probably my biggest influence currently. I grew up with OutKast (ATLiens), Goodie Mob (Still Standing), and Timbaland and any track he produced.

  33. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  34. A: I help artist record the most appropriate take, and mood for there particular project. I am also good at relaxing, correcting with tact, and motivating my clients to capture there dreams in audio.

  35. Q: How would you describe your style?

  36. A: hip-pop

  37. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  38. A: Victoria Monet. I think she has an incredible mind, voice, and pen game.
