All things music... you name it and I do it... and well. Graphics, Web design, Events, Promotion, Live performance, Recording (production and session) I've been a part of many projects for 15 years and have a lot of value to give to any project.
I live in Vernon, BC. Have built a venue, and work out of a studio close by.
My Reggae/Calypso project is called Chipko Jones. We recently released an EP. People like it and the project is expanding quickly.
Here, the Okanagan, is a good place to play outdoors. BC is one of the best new places in the world for summer festivals. It is competitive as a musician, but there is lots of space and opportunity to get involved otherwise at first, even chances to create independent outdoor shows and festivals. It's a good place to start music.
I've built from every angle of the music business. Recording to live performing, film to production, lead playing, backup playing, writing, administrative work. I love music and believe it is an answer to our troubled world. I am committed to music 100%.

Interview with The Point
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Worked on a pretty good little EP in Calgary Alberta called Dinosaurs for Elise Hall Meyer who is in Vancouver now. I played slide on it, and backed up her vocals. It was great for a little rough EP and got her noticed by the Calgary Folk Fest organizers. Also have started up a few great venues that gathered some great little bands, and took some awesome live recordings. The people started showing up pretty quick. Fun to be part of a community that loved each other. The project I'm on, my band, Chipko Jones, is the best project I've ever had. We released an EP in May and it sounds good.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Building an outdoor stage here in Vernon. A little festival in Christina Lake BC A roaring Halloween show at Caravan Farm Theatre in Armstrong BC And a vinyl release for my 7 piece Reggae Band.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I will have to look and see. I'm curious to find out.

A: Both... because technology is mind blowing... all of it!

A: That I make my own schedule
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Q: Where's your bathroom? A: Over there (pointing)
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: I don't know... I don't really pay attention to people who don't understand what I do. But I do feel some people probably don't understand how hard it is to raise music and art into the world. It's like raising a child. To nurture is difficult. And worth it.

A: What is your best possible outcome?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Things worth doing are hard to do sometimes. You'll be happy you kept going.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Camera, Guitar, Cajon, Computer, Solar power source
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I was an elite athlete until I turned 20, downhill skiing. There wasn't the friendship in it I wanted, so I turned to music, which I had been learning the whole way along. Never looked back.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Natural and intuitive. I don't overthink.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Oh geez... I would love to work with The Expanders from LA. I love roots reggae.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Yes
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I've worked in many different genres. I have been looking into and gathering influence from African and soul music lately.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Singing is my strongest skill. Production wise, live recording is probably my strongest skill. I have more experience in that than anything.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: In person, I'm a good producer for helping a musician bring out their subconscious magic. I'm an intuitive player and producer. I go by feel. I believe there is a way to capture what is behind the music and that is the key to making it all work.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Rough recordings are essential first, preferably live off the floor, or even a recording of a performance, to see how the music is arranged live. An audience expects a recording to sound similar to a live show, so I believe it is important to catch this in the highest quality way possible. If an artist gets past this point, recording track by track is easy to do, because we will have hashed out the agreements along the way of rough recording. It is a cost effective approach. Final recording is the most expensive part of the process, and if our approach is streamlined, it is easier to capture a final recording in a genuine way.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: We have a big venue style room with lots of artwork for writing and rough recording with simple equipment to capture inspired moments. And we have a smaller room a few blocks away with high end equipment for recording final tracks. I can mix anywhere and take advantage of listening to the tracks in as many different settings as possible.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: The musicians around me. My friends. We have a good team of people who work brilliantly together. Though I do enjoy how Mark Ronson produces soul music.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Grow their music business. I specialize in understanding and knowing where a project needs to move. I'm a natural and intuitive producer. I create events this way, produce albums, book shows, and back up the music.
