Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: It is my job as a session singer to provide you with vocals that are on key, well-placed, and capture the feeling of the song.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love that I get to do what I love and still provide people with a service. It's very satisfying to know that my vocals can bring so much to someone else's music.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: My advice for customers looking to hire a provider like me would be to communicate and know what you want/need. I get a fair amount of people who come to me and don't have a clear vision of their work and leave it to me to figure it out for them and they typically are never satisfied. It's very helpful to know exactly what I have to do to make you a satisfied customer.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work on a lot of different types of music. I get a lot of Hip-Hop/Rap/Electronic music that needs a female vocalist for a chorus. I also do a lot of country and pop songs. I've even sang on a couple musicals for their soundtracks.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I've been doing session singing for 3 years now so I've got a pretty proficient system down. Once an order is place, I look to make sure I have everything I need - lyrics, instrumental track, and a demo track with vocals/melody guide. I listen to the song while reading the lyrics to make sure they both match. (If there are discrepancies between the two I will send a message to clarify which is correct.) I listen a couple times until I have the melody and lyrics memorized and begin recording. It usually takes a few tries to capture the emotion of the song. Once I feel the song is perfect I'll send you the files dry in wav format. If you need any revisions I will respond in a timely manner and return the revised work ASAP.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Sarah Bareilles is one singer/musician/songwriter who inspires me. I thing she's a phenomenal vocalists and writes intriguing lyrics.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common type of work I do for clients is a demo singer. Most of my clients are songwriters who need someone to sing and layer harmonies/BGVs so they can pitch a polished song to publishers.
