Interview with Highlanderz

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: My 4th remix of this year, "Feel Good-Highlanders Remix" (2017) is the best sounding, clean, crispy, and punchiest track I have ever done, this is my new template for my sound.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Working on my music label, "High Land Music" which is my imprint and will be putting out my own tracks to Beatport and itunes. When I build up my releases I will be DJing with the help of my DJ Management, "Universal Talents".

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Digital for being about to work remotely and on laptops. Analog acoustic instruments and synths for recording to digital still sounds amazing.

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: I love music and art, I love everything about music and my job...I can't even believe its a job :)

  9. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  10. A: Make sure you arrangement is really what you feel and love objectively, don't just love your music because you did it and spent allot of hours doing it...its got to be really what you want and I can make it crispy, loud and punchy.

  11. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  12. A: My PC laptop with Ableton, A Macbook with Ableton, my Sennheiser HD 600 headphones, a keyboard or Piano, and Serum vst.

  13. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  14. A: Remixing, composing tracks, and making it loud and punchy. I was inspired by Drum & Bass-Breakbeat UK vinyls, they were the pioneers of loud and punchy.

  15. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  16. A: The key to getting a great track is to balance the mixing, and have creative composing.

  17. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  18. A: Dance, vocal tracks, and a bit of POP.

  19. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  20. A: I put the sound design that I think the client and the client's market would like, and I put in my heart into it.

  21. Q: What's your typical work process?

  22. A: Visualize what the client wants the end product to be, make a draft as fast as I can to send to client to get the ok if we are on the right track. After contracts and ok to continue to the final mix, then get approval untill its ok, then mastering.

  23. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  24. A: Several laptops, apple pro mac desktop with Ableton, Ensonique SQ80 keyboard, APC40 midi controller, launchpad midi controller, Dynaudio BM15 monitors, Yamaha monitors, sennheiser hd 600 pro headphones, motu 828 soundcard, and yamaha and audio 8 dj soundcard.
