Moosehead Productions on SoundBetter

I mostly do remote mixing & mastering, but can also consider music/ audio production, cover song playbacks, audio for video and other audio related work. The average prices I have listed is indicative and may be negotiable.

I am very satisfied with the work Daniel has done with my songs. He is a man who puts his soul in his work and really knows what he is doing. If you are looking for quality and perfection, Daniel is the right man!

Interview with Moosehead Productions

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: LYNG - Muddy Track Was part of all the stages, including everything from writing to mastering.

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: I like the combination. In my opinion analog sounds better, but the workflow and possibilities within the digital universe open the door for more creativity, not to mention the economic advantages.

  5. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  6. A: PC based studio with Cubase Pro and UAD interface setup. Tons of software including Waves, FabFilter, Slate, Native Instruments, Spitfire, Melodyne ++

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: Revision requests. And if the client isn't satisfied after the revision requests, I refund the money I recieve.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: Most of all I like working with music, and contributing to make the good music sound better sonically.

  11. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  12. A: I ask what the intention with the mixing shall be, if there is any special sount they are looking for. I alo often ask clients to send reference tracks if they have any.

  13. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  14. A: Message several providers with as much information as possible. Include questions about the provider and then sum up the answers before making the choice. Don’t just look at the amount of celebrity points on the portfolio, or the amount of gear. Check the reviews and references, and test the cooperating skills (answer on messages etc.).

  15. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  16. A: I try to enhance the songs strengths and, if any, decrease the weaknesses. The strengths wary of course, since they are mere reflections of the musician(s) musical identity.

  17. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  18. A: I have a wide variety of inspirational persons and music. Everything from Butch Vig to Adam Dutkiewicz, Avenged Sevenfold to Thrice, Eminem, Avicii and Brother Dege.

  19. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  20. A: I mostly do remote mixing and mastering, amongst producing (arranging, adding instruments, make complete instrumental tracks for vocalists without bands etc.). I also do reamping where applicable.

  21. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  22. A: I mostly work on rock/metal, but I also do more acoustic music and some rap/hiphop/electronic music.

  23. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  24. A: Tough one... Assuming there is electricity on the island :) DAW with interface with plugins the instruments (this has to count as one right?;) ) Microphones, including a matched pair of akg c414, Universal Audio 2-610 Neve portico 2 Channel

  25. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  26. A: I have had music and audio/music production as a hobby since the early 2000's. I studied sound and music production at Noroff Instituttet in Bergen, Norway for two years.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: Independent artists who can do decent recordings in their practice environment or home studio, and want somebody else to mix their music. Artists who have done the recordings in a studio, but want somebody else to mix. Artists that need mastering. Artist that have a home studio and can record guitars directly on the computer, and need them to be “re-amped”. Artists who program the drums or use a midi-keyboard and need good drum samples.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: When it comes to processing and effects, less is often more. Focus on the artist's musical identity and enhance it, not change the identity.

  31. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  32. A: Creativity. Also cooperation with clients.
