Charlie Chamberlain on SoundBetter

I am a Nashville based guitarist, songwriter and music producer. I craft songs from beginning to end, on stage and in studio. By drawing from decades of listening, performing, writing and recording experiences I can approach many styles of music intuitively and authentically. From guitar sessions to album productions, Im here to serve the song.

I am available for hire to track electric guitars, acoustic guitars, mandolin, banjo and bass. I use Protools HD and UAD to deliver high quality, well recorded audio stems for your session. I also have a nice collection of new and vintage guitars, FX and amps that can deliver the perfect tones for your next project.

I also offer full band recording services and record production. If you are in Nashville and your band wants to make a record, I can help you book the room, engineers, find musicians and manage your time and budget, helping you relax, be creative and make great music.

In addition, if you are a song writer looking to record a few demos, I work both "in the box" and with the best sessions players in town to create radio ready pitch recordings at affordable cost.

Lastly, I enjoying mixing records too. If you looking for fresh ears to dial in your mixes contact me for priceing.

Send me an email through 'Contact' button above and I'll get back to you asap.

Charlie is one of my favorite people to work with out here in Nashville. In addition to being a killer guitarist and engineer, he's super reliable and easy to work with. We've been writing and recording an EP together for the past few months and the whole experience has been amazing! Love working with him!

I met Charlie a few years ago when my band needed a mandolin player. Right away I knew he was a fabulous musician. When we decided to make my solo album, Charlie produced, engineered, and played guitars. As a song writer, you tend to be protective of your ideas, Charlie listened and encouraged, all with a huge positive attitude. We had a Blast!

I came to Charlie with a few ideas, and not much else. He created melodies that brought my ideas to life. Then he created base tracks and all the instrument parts- added back-up singers and session musicians (horns etc.). He did a great job mixing and editing. I had a notebook full of lyrics- and now I have an awesome, fully mastered album.

From the moment I met Charlie, he put me at an instant ease. Working with him was a pleasure.. Complete smooth sailing. He was patient and respectful of the sound I was trying to create, whilst encouragingly extracting the best performance from me! He is an extremely talented musician and a really good guy. Highly recommended!

Interview with Charlie Chamberlain

  1. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  2. A: I like to stay pretty diverse. But I find the bulk of it fits nicely within the Americana genre.

  3. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  4. A: Studio A is based around an API 1608 console and runs Protools HD12. It is a multi room studio large enough to track full bands live while maintaining complete isolation. Studio B is also a Protools HD12 system with neve and api pres. This smaller studio has one iso booth and is perfect for vocal sessions and mixing. We also have an off site edit suit/mobile studio. It runs Protools HD11 and Logic and has a host of software instruments and UAD plugins.

  5. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  6. A: I draw the bulk of my inspiration from my peers. I get to work all kinds of amazing and talented individuals and am consitently motivated by their acheivments.

  7. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  8. A: On any given day I am most likley doing one of two things; tracking guitars for an artist or producing their record. I also love to write and am often co-writing.

  9. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  10. A: Do your research. Listen to their work, do you like it? Often times you get what you pay for, so be realistic with your budget. Sometimes it is better to hold off and save up a little more money to get the right players and studio. You rarely find something that is high quality, cheep and done on time.

  11. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  12. A: Ive been a professional musician for 15 years. It has taken me all across the globe!

  13. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  14. A: Both are great. I try and focus less on the gear and more on the content of the material and performance.

  15. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  16. A: I put my heart into everything I work on. I will not send you out the door with a product that I don't fully believe in, and I will work my hardest to make sure it is done to its absolute highest quality.

  17. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  18. A: An acoustic guitar, a pick and three extra sets of strings!

  19. Q: How would you describe your style?

  20. A: Organic.

  21. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  22. A: It all starts with the source! A good performance will always out shine any and all post production tricks;) I like to work fast and commit early.
