Interview with Rickard Lindvall

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Analog for sound and digital for workflow. Doing tests for a couple years i found that analog compressors do something different and great with sounds while plugins doesn't do much, except compressing. There's no personality. With EQ and Distortion the difference between analog and plugins isn't as big. But the main difference is that the analog gear sounds more open to me. The plugin does the same thing, but it's sound is small and sometimes harsh.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: at the moment i'm working on my own bands different projects, but i would love to tackle someone else's work.

  5. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  6. A: Different styles of music and that every song is different.

  7. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  8. A: Everyone thinks that they could do it.

  9. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  10. A: Get it good at the source.

  13. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  14. A: Drum sounds. I just love them

  15. Q: What's your typical work process?

  16. A: When mixing i always listen to the song to see what it has. Then i start to test different sounds. When i get an idea of what i want to touch and what not, i crank the volume to get the band/artist to sit right. Then i lower the volume for final tuning and balance.
