Chris Pavey Mastering on SoundBetter

You’ve put everything into your record, and I will help you take it one step further. Mastering is the dedication to perfecting sound, and creating that magic you hear when playing back a great song for the first time. This is what I do for the incredibly talented people I’m honoured to work with.

Having been involved in the many different parts of the creative process , I can always empathise with an artist about what a total emotional, and physical undertaking it can be to create and release music. Mastering being the final step can be the point where a number of issues or points come to light in a project, and it’s precisely why this final step is extremely important. It needs to be handled carefully and with complete support for the artist at every stage.

My methodology is to walk along side the artist, and not to insert myself into their project, but lift it up and do all in my power to finalise the vision the artist has. Mastering requires 100% open communication and a complete two way dialogue with the artist, in my opinion there is no other way to master.

A lot is written on the web about mastering, some true, some false, some fact, some opinion. But if you ask me, there is no secret to mastering, only an unending dedication to perfection.
