My musical background is my biggest asset in the studio, I’m not just a button pusher, I help bridge the gap between an artist’s song/vision and a professional sounding final product.

I provide mixdown and mastering services for labels and independent artists. Contact me when you are ready to take your productions to the next level.

Interview with J Gaston

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Both! I love the sound of analog hardware and especially analog synths, but with companies like Universal Audio and their nearly flawless emulations of some of my favorite hardware, it's tough not to like. Especially being able to automate parameters.

  3. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  4. A: Do you offer discounts to independent artists? Sometimes I do. It depends on my availability and workload and of course my interest in the track.

  5. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  6. A: Find someone that understands your goals and with whom you can communicate easily.

  7. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  8. A: Music has always been a part of my life and I have worked in many different areas of the field. I played in several alternative rock bands in the late 1980's and 90's. For more than 20 years, I have been a touring dj, performing house and EDM at nightclubs and a few festivals across the US, and in Central and South America. I previously owned and operated a cd duplication house, and of course all the years mixing and mastering for so many talented artists over the years.

  9. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  10. A: Try putting a transient designer on a guitar track and dial in the attack for a more confident sounding guitarist.

  11. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  12. A: I work in most genres, so if you don't see your genre listed, please send me a message. I most likely work in that genre also, but I am limited to a certain number of genres on this page.
