Evol Recordings believes in fulfilling each project to its natural end. The ethos is equally seated in maximalism and minimalism, but shies away from purposefully “slick” or “commercial” sounds. As an engineer and producer, Jonathan Allen has spent years studying records and the art of recording, listing The Ronettes’ “Be My Baby” and “Baby I Love You,” the Rolling Stones’ “Shine a Light,” Joy Division’s “Transmission,” the Cure’s “Inbetween Days,” Sonic Boom’s “Angel,” My Bloody Valentine’s “Soon,” and Massive Attack’s “Protection” as pillar moments in record production.
