Interview with Aleksander Molak | Mothashipp

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I think it's crucial to know what You want. Already know this? Then go and find a person whose work You like. If You feel that this person can communicate well and You understand each other well - that can be Your match :)
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: First of all I talk with my clients and try to understand their needs as good as possible.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: - What do You want to tell people with Your music? / What's Your goal as an artist? - Where would You like to be in one / five / ten years as an artist?
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Vintage on steroids.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I'd call it urban music.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Creativity and wide perspective.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio setup is hybrid. I use both - analog and digital. I use LA-2A for vocal tracking very often. During the mix I love to use Looptrotter Monster. My "to go" mix plugins include: Slate Digital, FabFilter, D16 and Soundtoys.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Major Lazer's "Peace is The Mission" and Justin Bieber's "Purpose" were one of my recent inspirations.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I think that few things are critical in a good mix - a sense of power, fullness and a sense of space. And also something that will make You ask Yourself: "what's behind that corner?". I try to bring all of those.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Apogee Symphony, Heritage Audio JR73, LA-2A, Telefunken AK-47, Looptrotter Monster Compressor.
