Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

A: I mixed a 6 track ep for my composer friend Josh Snethlage of Mixedmediasound. His ep was taken on by Universal music offshoot 'thesoundtrak.com'

Q: What are you working on at the moment?

A: Working on bringing up a local rapper Little White Lie. Go hear the mixes Ive done on youtube of his!!

Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

A: Id recommend Dan Brodbeck if hes on here, he taught me how to be an artful geek at this!! He also has a juno award to back my suggestion

Q: Analog or digital and why?

A: Both! You need great analog gear (mics pres) to capture sound in high fidelity. You then need a great digital set of tools to mix and finish the product. Plugins are as good for tone as analog processors imo.

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

A: I promise the best possible sounding product if you'll take my advice on how to make it perfect.

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: I loooovvvveeee the technical aspects of sound. Choosing the right color compressor for a vocal. Im a true audio geek.

Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A: How fast I can get it done My answer? Why the rush? Get it perfect, then put it out. You only get one shot.

Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

A: People undervalue the perfection required by them in the recording process and its criticality in making a professionally finished product. A mix doesnt fix a bad performance always.

Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

A: I want to hear their skill level first before I even want to work with them. Im at a certain level and expect them to be also.

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

A: A guitar, a portable recorder, a slate vms mic, a computer and a keyboard

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

A: I've been at it for 6 years now, ups and downs locally in the economy have held me back, but my work is starting to get noticed especially in film and composed music mixing.

Q: How would you describe your style?

A: My style is lile a chameleon. I can do a bit of everything.

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

A: Id love to work with the likes of Tom Macdonald of hangovergang, or even pop stars like ed sheeran!

Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: The big 3. Tone, Timing and Tuning are paramount.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: I find myself mostly working on local hiphop artists although I love a good Rock/Pop production (thats what I write myself)

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: My ability to hear critically the most fine details of audio is my greatest asset.

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: I am a multi instrumentalist (keys, drums, guitars, bass, programming) and producer capable of taking a song from 0 to 1000 using many different tools available to me including real recorded instruments with high end mics, to virtual instruments and textures.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: I usually get a grand scope on a project first. The clients wishes are paramount in every situation and the products I create stand on their own as a representation of quality.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: I have an extensively acoustically treated control room studio designed for mixing. Although I always upgrade gear, I am currently working in protools 12.5 using focusrite preamps and conversion. I love the sound Im getting but have plans to go even higher end soon.

A: Big names like oak felder, Dan Brodbeck and Richard Chycki

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: I mostly record, edit and mix/master audio in my own private professional studio.
