Interview with Profile User 14210

  1. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  2. A: All types! I love recording real instruments and using microphones so I typically work on more organic music but I pride myself on being able to collaborate and bring a professional ear to any genre I may be working on.

  3. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  4. A: COLLABORATION. It’s what making music is all about!

  5. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  6. A: What are your favorite records? What do you want to say with your music? Who do you hope to reach with your music? When can we get started???

  7. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  8. A: I have a decent sized studio in my basement that I am able to do the majority of my recording in. I have an Apollo 8p with pretty much every UAD plugin that I use for multi tracking. I can record live drums, I have several acoustic and electric guitars, and even a Hammond B3 and Leslie. I love having as many instruments lying around as I can so there’s always something to inspire a song.

  9. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  10. A: I worked for 6 years at a recording studio in Nashville Tn, called The Smoakstack. I have been producing, engineering, and mixing records independently for the past 5 years.

  11. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  12. A: I produce, engineer and mix mostly. I also do the occasional, guitar, bass, or B3 overdub.
