Otto gave my metal project's mix and master the punch and power he promised. His rapid turnaround time and quick responses to feedback and questions made for an excellent experience.

Working with Otto is the easiest part of my creative process. His responses are instantaneous and his turnaround time is extraordinary. He is more than willing to not only do exactly as you request, but also provide outstanding insight which for me has proven to be the difference between a regular mix and an industry quality mix. Awesome Job!

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Otto on many sessions and he is one of my favorite producers/engineers. I would highly recommend him for any project. Total pro with a passion for what he does that’s heard on everything he’s involved with.

Interview with Otto D'Agnolo

  1. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  2. A: I began as a musician playing in clubs. In 1983 I took a job at a recording studio and I've never left the control room. I've earned platinum records, built studios, earned an Emmy... making records is a joy.

  3. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  4. A: When you find a record that sounds amazing to you, on the radio, in your car, at a restaurant, be sure to buy that record and listen to it on the same system where you make your records. Make sure you know what your favorite recordings sound like in your working environment.

  5. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  6. A: My most common work includes producing, recording and mixing from the start to the finish. The most common on-line work I find is mixing.

  7. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  8. A: My primary vocal mics are a Nuemann U-47 and a U-87. I cut through my Avalon or Summit preamps and compressors. Obvioulsy when tracking a whole band the mic list becomes extensive and the outboard compressors are numerous, including Urie 1178s, DBX 165As, LA-4s, DBX 160s and others. I monitor on Genelecs, Tannoys and Yamaha NS10s and I record into ProTools.

  • Recording at home.Nov 16, 2016

Recording at home is getting pretty simple.  Unfortunately, that means that sometimes (like with microphones in square rooms) the tone of the track suffers.  By recording at home you've already saved a lot of money. It's time to get serious and hand the mixing to a pro who can fix the problems that your room has created in your track. Make your record all it can be.
