Interview with AG Audio
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: On a big smasher! Stay tuned!
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: poorly no, I'm new ;-)
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both, because there are benefits on both sides ;-)
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I'll do my best to bring out the best of the material i get.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I like that you can do what you want. There are no rules. It only has to sound good in the end!
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How much is the service? Will I be successfull with my track? ... I tell them that i first have to check the material to give an answer.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: When people think that you can make gold out of shit.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What do you wanna do with it? Where did you record it? How much money do you have ;-) (just a joke)
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Check the Demos to be sure that the guy you're going to hire is the right one for your production!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A microphone, a field recorder, a MacBook, an interface and many many cables :-)
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I'm doin this since 10 years.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I'm really proud of my productions with the really great Reggea artist Gentleman and his wife Tamika. I was the Mixing and Mastering Engineer and it was a charity project for poor children in Africa.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I don't have a specific style. My style is the style of the current song to get the best out of it.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: At the artist side I would really like to work with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike because their ideas are really innovating and at the engineers side I would love to work with Chris Lorde Alge because he made so many different productions.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: I think it's really important that you don't overload your mix with effects and so on. Sometimes it's really adding by subtracting.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: It's different. i often work on electronic tracks but also on songs with real instruments like Pop, Rock or Reggea
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is to hear what other people won't hear. With that gift i will make the songs ready for the indusrty.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I try to figure out the musical keynote to award it the finesse that it deserves.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: At first I have to listen to the Song several times to get an impression of it. Meanwhile, i get ideas and i start to edit the stems. After that the mixing process beginns.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: At home I have just a little bedroom studio but I'm working in a real big professional recording & mixing studio provided by my former college. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: There are many big names in the industry where you can get inspiration or where you learn a lot. If I had to name some it would be Chris Lorde Alge, Sam Holland & John Hanes
