I recorded my first album with Lorenzo. He found the sound I needed for my songs. I'm sure I'll work with him again.

I had the chance to work with Lorenzo several times and he always been reliable and ready to satisfy all the requests of my clients. He's got great skills in mixing and sound design and the sensibility to translate the aims of artists he work with in the right way.

Interview with Lorenzo Maggio

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: Cirque Des Rêves - Mirabilia. It has been a great production, I've been working with Incredibly talented musicians and with a great producer (Maartin Allcock from Jethro Tull, Fairport Convention, Yusuf/Cat Stevens...).

  3. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  4. A: Yes, Max Carola. He's my Master and he's the one person that taught me more than anyone else, not only about Music but also about life!

  5. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  6. A: The constant connection with other people and with different ways of seeing art and music. Every project is an occasion to learn something new.

  7. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  8. A: - What do you want to comunicate with this song? - What inspired in the first place? - Close your eyes: where do you picture yourself when listening to the song?

  9. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  10. A: Try to be open minded and get inspired by who you choose to work with. It's all about art, if you get the right vibe then it's all about giving it the shape you want.

  11. Q: What's your typical work process?

  12. A: As soon as I open the tracks I listen to initial balance of them at unity gain, then I start a quick balance. I try to get an initial rough mix in the first 15/30 minutes, a nice balance as starting point. Then I'll try to get them "sound right" according to the desire and sound that client asked. The feedback with the client is also constant, if possible I always try to arrange a listening session for the final touches, in studio or remotely. The important thing is the feeling, I try to get the right vibe, that thing that moves me in the first place. That's the most important starting point and I only must keep it or emphasize it during the entire working process.
