Sound Designer and Head Sound for Burn The Floor, an internationally touring theatrical production. Derek has been an audio engineer for over 20 years, progressing from homemade 8 tracks demos for himself and musician friends to mixing bands in bars to covering all aspects of audio for international theatre productions.

He was the house engineer in Sydney's famous Marble Bar for 4 years, working with many of the country's top musicians, moving on to become Head Sound for the Showroom Theatre in Sydney's Star City for 4 more years, before taking his current position with Burn The Floor. During the past 10 years that show has been to Broadway, the West End and extensive tours all over North America, Europe, Asia, Australia and South Africa. He has also toured Asia and the Middle East with Millenium Entertainment International - a children's theatre company. Recent projects include designing Brazouka, a Brazilian dance show produced by Pamela Stephenson and directed by Arlene Phillips; an Australian tour for comedian Billy Connolly; redesigning Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert for Norwegian Cruise Lines and installing 3 different versions of Burn The Floor into several Norwegian Cruise Line ships.

    Derek's live mixes are insanely good. I've seen his show "Burn the floor" in a number of different venues in the USA, and each time walked away astounded by the precision, depth, clarity and balance in the mix.
    I also saw his show "DrumStruck" in Australia, and was impressed on a similar level.
    Exceptional professionalism and sonic genius.
