  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I mixed and mastered "Groovespeak - Let It Go' and also played bass, and sang backup.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: A reggae album named "Numinous". I have all the base tracks complete and just need to "paint the house".

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Digital. We are finally there.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: We will get this completed together.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: That it doesn't feel like work because I love it.

  11. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  12. A: Who are you? I am someone with a valid perspective.

  13. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  14. A: When it comes to songwriting I would say that it comes from without, not within.

  15. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  16. A: What is your reference, or favorite album.

  17. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  18. A: Be prepared to be amazed.

  19. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  20. A: Sequencer, mic, multitrack recorder, bass & guitar

  21. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  22. A: I've recorded and performed with various ensembles, with varying levels of success for 40 years.

  23. Q: How would you describe your style?

  24. A: Rootsy & Realistic

  25. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  26. A: I'd like to work with new artists who aren't jaded.

  27. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  28. A: Less is More.

  29. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  30. A: Rock, R&B, Americana, Reggae, Acoustic

  31. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  32. A: My ears and their ability to notice and fix problems.

  33. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  34. A: Love

  35. Q: What's your typical work process?

  36. A: I start with drums and do a holistic top down mix on them then work in the bass so that it sits well with the drums. I have signal chains saved for most instruments and vocals. I deal with any issues that prevent a full sonic spectrum and spend way too much time making sure everything is just right before mastering. I have mastering secrets that I have learned over the years from working in analog studios.

  37. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  38. A: My studio somehow imparts a very "Boulder" feel to recordings. I have a large collection of mics, outboard gear and plugins.

  39. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  40. A: I'm a big fan of the analog gods of days past.

  41. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  42. A: I can put all the finishing touches on a mix and master said mix to an exquisite work of art.
