Interview with Ritam Sarkar

  1. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  2. A: My trusty old Acoustic Guitar, my USB microphone, a laptop, an audio cable to connect the guitar in case there's noise outside, and my pair of headphones.

  3. Q: How would you describe your style?

  4. A: Since I've been a classical musician and also a member of a hard rock band, I like to think I know what suits what. With me in charge of a track, I know just what type of music needs in it to make it sound good.

  5. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  6. A: I dream of making a track with Charlie Puth, being a classical musician and a music producer myself I respect his way of working and I'm awestruck with the tricks he uses.

  7. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  8. A: One of the major things that I've noticed people not doing is properly tuning their vocals, I always say "A mix is as good as the singer/vocals". Mix and master can't magically make a song good. In my opinion, a typical song needs the right singer, and properly tuned vocals for it to sound as good as it can!

  9. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  10. A: I typically work on Pop projects the most since that's what most people come to me with. Apart from that I also have worked on tons of other projects varying from genre to genre including Cinematic music, EDM, Metal, Hip-Hop and Rock.

  11. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  12. A: I've got a home studio at my house equipped with all the necessary hardware and software one would need to make a banger. I use the Lewitt LCT 440 Pure for most of my vocal recordings. Other than that my other audio gears include Presonus Eris E4.5, Arturia MiniLab MKII, M-Audio M-Track 2x2, MSI GF63 as my machine, and Ableton Live 11 Suite as my goto DAW.

  13. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  14. A: John Mayer, Charlie Puth, The Weeknd, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eminem, Alter Bridge, and a hundred other artists have inspired me. I try to improve each aspect of the music I work on through their influence.

  15. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  16. A: I arguably do all types of audio works but I've mostly been involved in making beats, arranging, and producing tracks for songs along with mixing and mastering them.
