Daniel Goldstein

Orchestral arranger

Daniel Goldstein on SoundBetter

Let's say you have an album on the way. You've secured financing, demoed everything and got it just right, tightened up your band and you're off to the studio (which might as well be your kitchen). Suddenly, you feel some extra colour is needed - a touch of strings and winds to make the song stand out. That's where I come in. Let's get to work!

First of all, we'll talk. A good back-and-forth is essential for a successful collaboration.
We'll discuss what published music, or abstract adjectives, can inspire the arrangement, and then we'll probably discuss the budget (which can, in some cases, dictate the size of the ensemble).
I definitely prefer working fast. Once I get the demo, I listen once or twice and immediately start sketching. It's most common that within three to five days a detailed MIDI demo will be sent back to you. Hopefully, you will LOVE it, but if not, no worries - you won't be charged for a second draft.
Once we're pleased with it overall, we can zoom in and work out the little kinks and make sure every note is right where it has to be.
Then I'll provide you with the sheet music from which the session musicians will play.
I DO NOT provide the musicians myself, so any further steps are project-specific:
I could be involved in the production of the project to make sure the acoustic qualities of the instruments are maintained.
I could come to the studio to conduct the ensemble, if required.
*These options, if not discussed beforehand, during commission, will involve additional payment.*
