Chris Axe

Session Bassist

Chris Axe on SoundBetter

I am an experienced bass player with session credits including performances at Glastonbury Festival, Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Bristol Beacon, Edinburgh Fringe Festival and The Great Escape Festival. Live radio sessions include BBC Radio and FIP Radio, and soundtrack work for film and television including Sky and Aardman Animations.

My name is Chris, and I am a bass player living in Bristol, UK.

With my years of session and performance experience, I will work with you to deliver a bassline that brings your song to life. I love working with artists and producers who are looking for a bassline to take your music to the next level. Although I'm comfortable playing within any genre, I specialise in bringing your tracks a vintage flavour. Most people know me for my work in Soul, Motown, Blues, Rock, Funk, Jazz, R&B, but I am flexible!

I have a variety of vintage instruments and amplifiers that I can use to give your music the authentic old-school tones, style and vibe. I pride myself on dialling in the perfect tone for your track, whether it needs a solid John McVie-style groove, driving Jamerson runs more melodic, McCartney-style playing. I will work with you until you are 100% happy with the result. Once we are finished with the project you will receive precise, edited isolated final stems.

Please get in touch using the Contact button to discuss playing on your song!
