Interview with Draco Six Media

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: The Conduits "MONARCH" album because it incorporated all of my musical and audio production abilities.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Recording several different bands at Wall of Sound Studios.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Joey Burgess

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: It depends on your preference. Analog is a consistently warm quality, while digital will give you more editing power. At my studio we are digital, but work with plug ins that will simulate analog audio qualities.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: Your band will sound incredible, I will boost and empower your sound, and you will hear qualities in it you never knew existed.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I can do it all day, it's fun, and will never get tired of it.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: You can edit this right? Yes. yes I can edit this.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: The biggest misconception might be that people think pro audio producers are everywhere because anyone can buy the equipment, but realistically, many of the pros including myself have been working and studying this for 10 years before they get the sound they desire.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: Coffee or water?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Do your research, compare my production quality to every other studio, decide which ever you like most.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Battery, hydroponic garden, guitar, computer, interface.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: My career path has always been musical. I have been recording, mixing, and mastering bands for years now. Mainly because people hear The Conduit and want THAT mix, and also because I work with many different studios /labels.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Every instrument is in your face and each dynamic is captivating. The style is distinguished, as if your producer was the Stanly Kubrick of audio production.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: The Conduit, because I have been working on this project for years and it keeps getting better and more technical.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Use your favorite song as a reference. Make it sound better than that.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Metal mostly, rock, and hip hop.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Pro audio production.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: Technicality, style, and integration.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: Write, record, mix, and master.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: Fortunately, I get to work out of two pro studios every day. While recording bands, I use a Behringer x32, which is the best interface on the market. Protools is my standard DAW software. Waves Mercury is what I use to digitally Mix and Master. The room I mix and master audio out of is acoustically treated. So your songs will sound amazing.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Periphery (band)

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Currently, I record bands at Wall of Sound Studios in Anaheim, California. My clients usually also require the mixing and mastering services. When I am not at the studio, I am usually programming drum tracks and recording guitar for THE CONDUIT.
