I'm Carδamo, a Vocalist/Violinist/Top-liner/Producer/Mixing-Engineer from London. I specialise in Pop/RnB/Soul, although I'm extremely versatile, and have a comprehensive knowledge of musical theory.
I grew up in Hertfordshire and trained as a classical violinist, I migrated to studying music technology in my adolescence and since progressed to post graduate level.
Having learned a few other instruments in my time, I have a broad knowledge of timbre. I tend to include a lot of dense string writing in my own personal work as I feel this gives a whole new dynamic to a recording.
I've been singing professionally for a good 10 years now so I feel comfortable in most recording settings. I have a great interest in vocal biology which has led me to explore the boundaries of my voice, making me quite a versatile singer, so I'd love to be a part of any experimental vocal projects you may have to offer, as well as up for singing/rapping in any style. I also have a passion for languages, so as long as I have a reference for accent and pronunciation, I'm up for anything.
I'm very easy going and I encourage constructive criticism. I don't like when people try and hold back if they're not 100% happy with something, and I'll always do my best to help in any and every way I can.

James worked on the vocals for my song. He has a great voice and was easy to work with and quickly understood how to sing the song and suggest improvements. I loved the tracks he produced and he delivered on time. I would definitely work with him again and recommend him to others.
Lastly to James: Thanks very much for your great work. I am a colleague and friend of James and have worked with him on several music projects, sessions and live performances. I have had nothing but a positive experience from working and collaborating with him - his vocal ability is exceptional and his professionalism is excellent too. If anyone is thinking of working with him - do, you won't regret it.
I was taught by James when he ran our university gospel choir. I still use some of the techniques he taught us to this day for my own warm ups. He definitely knows what he's doing, and he's a lovely bloke too. ♡
I'm proud to say that I was James's first violin teacher. He took to music both intellectually and intuitively from the word go. He had 20 minutes lessons in primary school and played Kreisler's Preludium and Allegro in his year 6 concert (its harder than grade 8) and was a fabulous leader and solist in our local youth orchestras. I'm delighted this had spurred a lifelong passion for music in so many forms. There is no limit I think.
James is a fantastically talented singer-songwriter, violinist, and producer. I had the pleasure of working with him on multiple projects, and he exceeded my expectations on every single one. He is also an excellent communicator and great person to work with, so I would highly recommend him for any project and look forward to working with him again myself!
James is my most frequent collaborator and this is no coincidence; he is an absolute joy to work with, and everything he does is of an exceptionally high standard. He is an incredibly talented singer, comfortable in seemingly any genre although very much excels at R&B.
I honestly cannot recommend him enough!
Interview with Carδamo
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Jacob Collier. He is, I believe, the most inspiring artist of my generation whether it comes to production, singing, composition, theoretical knowledge or any other practice.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a pretty basic home-studio but with some lovely microphones and a decent set of monitors, enough to get jobs done.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Jacob Collier, Jordan Rakei, Andrew Huang, Dorian Electra, COMANAVAGO, Fatoumata Diawara, Usted Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Charlie Puth, Shygirl, Count Baldor, Charli XCX.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I usually provide main vocals, backing vocals, string lines for other artists' work as well as producing tracks for a wide range of genres.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will do my very best in getting the job you need done to the highest standard.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Is _____ possible? / Can you make it sound like _____ ? Yes, everything is possible, just give me a second to figure it out!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What character are you going for? How do you want the listener to feel? Are there any artists/tracks as reference?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Try and know what you want from me, the more explicit your instruction, the easier and quicker my job is. That being said, be open to creative experimentation, a dialogue about healthy collaboration can be much more beneficial to a track than a strict set of lines to colour inside of.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My Laptop, a Scarlett 2i, my SM7b, my Roland Phantom and my cans
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Quirky-Vibrance in my string writing, Any range of emotions, power and mellow tone in my vocals.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I typically work swiftly as I've grown as a recording artist/producer to the point where I don't do things separately, I'll usually record group parts and apply basic processing as I go, so I can continue to hear the end "vision" as I progress.
