niclas erlandsson on SoundBetter

Hi, I’m Niclas. I specialise in mastering electronic music, my main mission is to make your tunes shine. I offer the following: -Free consultation on mix -Free sample master to all new clients -Free Revisions until you’re satisfied! -Several Beatport techno #1 under my belt. mastering.niclaserlandsson.com

I’m a mastering engineer & techno producer from Sweden. I’ve been producing and mixing music for roughly ten years. During this period I have received tutelage in mixing and sound design from pioneers such as Appleblim and Robin Koek (Artefakt) at dBs music Berlin. Here I also began studying the subtle art of mastering under the wings of renowned engineer Conor Dalton, and later on my friend Mattias Fridell.
Under the mentorship of these engineers I decided to break out and try mastering full time, and had the privilege of being offered a position as in-house-engineer at Elektrax Music. I can’t wait to work on your music!
I’m on a lifelong quest for better sounding audio, I apply this methodology in all my musical endeavours. This quest is also the reason why I offer free revisions on all my masters.
There’s one tool only that matters when mastering: our ears. But they are not perfect, which is why I approach mastering with a humble outlook. I want you and me to work together to make your music sound as good as it possibly can. I will provide free advice on your mixes before we start working together.

  9. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  10. A: About a year a go a mastered an album for Subjected (PFTA), which is still unreleased. But it was my first major project and it turned out awesome. Me and Subjected had a sitdown together in a mastering studio at Funkhaus, Berlin. He had goosebumps when we listened to the masters!!

  12. A: A lot of masters for talented people!

  15. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  16. A: Sorry, the world is not black or white. Everything exists in grey-areas, so does this "analog vs digital" debate. Frankly I'm tired of it. Both can sound amazing in the right hands (or ears, really)

  28. A: I let others do that, no need to put any labels on my music or my mastering.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Make mistakes constantly - and learn from them. Fuck up, redo, learn!

  32. A: Mostly techno and other electronic music!

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Self-evaluaiton

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: Careful consideration, attention to the small things that make a big difference, that extra wow thing

  • Kelvin Tone ShaperNov 24, 2021

My dear mentor and friend Mattias Fridell just sent me a tip of a very, very cool plug in. Kelvin Tone Shaper. A dual stage saturation and EQ unit. It sounds just absolutely incredible, I prefer the more subtle use it's capable of, as it works very well in my mastering chain. This will be a certain buy.
